If still you wonder why I write books about internships, all you need to do is read this well written and insightful article in The Boston Globe titled: These Summer Interns Were Ghosted By Their Bosses. Of all the things going on in the world today that lack integrity, you would think that at least a college student would be treated with DIGNITY when they spend a summer interning. That is clearly not the case! Hence the need for a book series that brings dignity to internships. It is all simple stuff. You just have to really care. I will give you one tip. The article says interns finish their work and have nothing to do all day. SOLUTION: Well before the intern shows up, identify numerous projects the intern can work on and give them all to the intern at once at the very beginning. Then, trust they will prioritize and manage their time like they do with their various college classes. They are great multi-taskers. Monitor progress periodically and have more projects ready - that you thought through before they started - to give them. No ghosting necessary.
