Engaging with students at the Chelmsford College Green Skills Fair highlighted their interest in collaborating with companies that value sustainability. It's evident that the younger generation is actively seeking opportunities with organisations that prioritise environmental responsibility. Oneonta Job Corps Academy celebrated Youth Apprenticeship Week in a big way! Twenty-three outside agencies came to campus for their May Workforce Outreach event. Students were able to show off their employability skills to employers and colleges. Using their Career Expo passports made the difficulty of approaching a stranger a bit easier (thank you, Ms. Erica Smith). OJCA students work on their skills inside the classroom and workshop daily so it was great for them to have the opportunity to flex those employability muscles in real time! After the event, Job Corps staff were able to have an employer debrief and receive extremely valuable feedback. Having these partnerships is crucial to the integrity of Job Corps training. We truly appreciate the time and attention of our employer partners as these events are a vital part of the Job Corps experience. #jobcorps #CareersBeginHere #JobCorpsJourney #thenationaljobcorpsassociation #studentsuccess #communityengagement #workforcedevelopment #employerpartners #CareerFair #apprenticeship #nationalyouthapprenticeshipweek

Last week SPH London participated in a roundtable focus group with representatives from BPIC Network. The session was filled with innovative ideas and meaningful discussions, all centred on shaping a brighter future for the construction industry. Highlights from the session included: • Mentoring as a powerful tool to guide and inspire young talent, fostering confidence and career direction. • Creating impactful careers fair events. • Encouraging early engagement by public and private bodies to inform pre-sixth formers about the wealth of opportunities available in the construction sector. • Exploring partnerships with organisations such as Open Doors, Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), and Construction in Youth The collaborative energy in the room reinforced the need to attract and develop the next generation of talent by ensuring construction is seen as an exciting and accessible career choice. We’re excited to see the energy and collaboration from this session translate into actionable outcomes that will benefit the industry and society as a whole. #SPHLondon #BPIC #BPICNetwork #Construction #Apprenticeships #Mentoring #SkillsForTheFuture

Many students go to college because of career aspirations and yet nearly half of job seeking college grads regret their major in hindsight. Despite the emphasis on career-readiness, 51% of students visited career services once or less throughout their college journey. We spent months meeting with students, campus leaders, and career services professionals to understand the disconnect. What we uncovered was that students want more opportunities to explore potential career paths in their industry earlier in their journey and they need the structure of a course to invest time in career discovery. ➡ What we created in response are 200-level industry-specific career navigation courses that give students the confidence to discover available career paths, execute the job search process, and practice with professionals in their chosen field. ➡ In addition to the career navigation courses, this fall we also released a free and easy career exploration tool for students to explore their possible career paths. Check out the video below to hear more about our new offerings to help students find a pathway to fulfilling employment from our Head of Learning, Gregory Edwards ↗

Love seeing programs like this - we need more of them! The demand for technically skilled talent is enormous, not just within our immediate #broadcast industry, but across countless other platforms. It's crucial we encourage more of these programs and spread the word to students and schools about the awesome career opportunities on the #technical and #engineering side. Let's be honest - how many of us love what we do because we get to play with the coolest tech and stay at the forefront of #innovation in a rapidly evolving industry..... 🙋🏽♀️ #apprenticeships #opportunities
It's #TalentTuesday and NEP would like to feature one of our Mobile Unit Engineer Apprentices, Brian Lynch. Brian studied film at Full Sail University and learned about the program through career fairs at school. He then began the apprenticeship program at NEP Headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pa. Brian says he enjoys learning about all the technology supporting a live production, and how it all comes together to bring shows to life. Upon completion of the program, he looks forward to seeing different parts of the country while supporting major events. NEP's Apprenticeship Program offers real-world experience working on production with the mentorship and guidance from industry experts. 🔗 Become an Apprentice: https://ow.ly/oWbZ50UmyGC #TalentTuesday #NEPGroup #ApprenticeshipProgram

The acceptance rate of a degree apprenticeship is... ...0.7% To put that into perspective... →Oxford is 17% →MIT is 4% →Stanford is 3.7% →Harvard is 3.2% There are a few reasons for this. Both employers and universities want their academic requirements met. But... Employers also want candidates with the right skills and attitude to succeed in the workplace. But even then, 0.7% is still quite low. The 0.7% is primarily because there is: - High competition - Limited number of positions So if the 0.7% makes you slightly uneasy, just remember: - With high demand comes high value - Even the process of applying is an opportunity to develop your skills, CV writing, assessment prep and interview skills ...so whether or not you secure a spot, the journey itself sets you up for success.
