Ok Pub people I could do with your help, I think it's time we started making things clear.... Our industry has been pushed to the limit over the past few years and so have our margins. What was once an industry standard level of GP has now become more of an every product for itself situation, particularly for independent operators. The feedback from Punch Pubs & Co, Stonegate Group, British Beer & Pub Association & British Beer & Pub Association 's recent spotlight on the margins for a pint being as little as 12p being met with amazement by the general public I think we could go a step further. So here's what I'd like to do, I want to make some graphics we can all share, that hopefully will get shared and shared, and reach our communities, friends and families. Here's what I need: I want to know how much a pint was ten years ago in your pub, one of your best sellers. How much that pint is NOW and how much it would be with your ten years ago margins. The aim is to highlight how much as an industry we have absorbed ourselves, how we cannot just pass all our increased costs onto our customers. Drop me a DM with a quick intro to get involved or if you have any ideas. Please share this far and wide. #saveourpubs #greatbritishpub #pubsmatter #pubs #hospitality #beer

Another glorious summer day, another day with our beloved village local closed. Although I do get a sense that there might be something in the offing. We'll see. Watch this space. In the meantime, I'm adding a beer and venue guide to Beer Today. Not to replace any other guide, just as a standalone guide to which venues (pubs, bars, taprooms) are consistently great, and which beers (which must be available all the time or make regular appearances) are really unmissable. Let me know by emailing darren.norbury@gmail.com or via DM. Your suggestion(s) must include a reason behind the nomination, and all will be checked out thoroughly, of course, before being added to the guide. Go! #beer #pubs #cider #bars #taprooms #recommendations

Tonight i'm at Small Gods Taproom in Shaddock St for one of their epic events This one will be about Beer, Gear, and walking into some Fear! Let's have a beer together and hear the State of Play story - going alcfree, starting NZ's fastest growing brewery, the future of beer and how my mid-life anti-crisis continues walking 800kms across Spain. First decision - what gear do I need? So I asked Ben at Living SImply. Bar is open from 5pm and we will kick off 6:30pm till 8:30. I love beer and love walking. So I'm combining my two loves and walking 800kms across the top of Spain on the Camino Frances next March. Spain has the highest percentage of non-alc beer at 15% share of total beer. SO lots of market research to do? And 40 days of needing a beer after a long walk. But how do you prepare for a trip like this and who can you trust for the right gear and the right advice. I chose Ben at Living Simply (Newmarket) and bought one of their Aarn Packs. These guys have all the best gear for your adventuring and trusted Camino advice. We thought we would include some beers and the story of @stateofplaybeer, to a Camino special gear review and Q&A with the experts. It's FREE to attend, buy a beer (there is plenty of State of Play) and if you have already walked a camino bring your memories. Ben will bring along his best sellers to show for the Gear review. I will have some State of Play cans for you to take home too.

The pub has died a lot of deaths. The Beerhouse Act got rid of beer tax … In an effort to wean Britain off the strong gin it had become hooked on over the previous century, the Beerhouse Act got rid of beer tax, let taverns, alehouses and pubs open longer and made it easier to get a brewing licence. If you see a pub named after William IV, who was on the throne at the time, that’s why. In this piece describing the history of pubs, again, the pub has died a lot of deaths … “The best pub feels like a pub. As it should.” — Stephen Carter King Slàinte☘️! #Pub #GastroPub #BritishPub #IrishPub #Ale #Cider #Beer #Pint #Alehouse #Microbreweries #Taprooms #Brewpubs Source: Esquire ✦✦✦ Stephen Carter King Chief of Growth and Marketing and Beerconomist + CEO of Beerconomy & Co., using beer market trends, insights, and analyses via Beerconomy Digital and The Beerconomist ✦ Beer Market Analyst • Consultant • Speaker ✦

🍺⭐️ 🥳YOU CAN NOW RATE ANY BEER AT ANY TIME 🥳 ⭐️🍺 We have finally added the new feature to The Beer Explorers rating website! We have wanted this feature for a while as it allows users to rate any beer at any time. This means users are no longer limited to only rating beers at festivals or bound by the beers prepopulated on the website. This is great as we can now recommend beers after beer festivals to attendees that they didn't try at the event and see how much they like our recommendations! As always you can then track all your beer reviews through "Your Ratings". This new feature is beautifully demonstrated in the video below! #beerexplorers #beernerd #beerstagram #beersuk #beerrating

Help us to keep much loved pubs, bars and venues as the heartbeat of High Streets and communities! As we eagerly anticipate the official start of the EUROs tournament today, which will bring a much welcome boost to our industry, we mustn’t lose sight of the continued pressures the hospitality industry, and Great British Pub, faces. Our sector is among the highest taxed sectors in the economy and Pubs pay up to four times more in business rates – the current 75% relief in England is a short-term lifeline and without an urgent and radical reform to business rates, many more pubs will be at risk of closure. With the support of the British Pub and Beer Association, Stonegate Group have joined forces with over 80 industry leaders in a pledge to leading political parties for fair recognition of the value our industry adds to the economy and the support we desperately need to continue to do what we do best - invest in our fantastic pubs, bars and venues, invest in our teams, Publicans and Operators, improve and innovate to meet changing consumer taste and demands, and provide the community hubs that are the crucial and often invisible glue that bring people together. We ask that you share this open letter, signed by over 80 leading pub and brewing companies, with your local Member of Parliament and help have a voice in allowing our sector to thrive again. https://lnkd.in/eJJcutnt
