This is an important reminder that our efforts in climate transition need to accelerate. Yes, so much progress has been made with renewables, but growth in demand is clearly outpacing the transition to renewables. At Conduit Capital Partners we have efforts attacking both supply/transition and energy efficiency. Through our alliance with Pineapple Energy and our efforts to restructure this amazing company for a broader electrification play, we look to accelerate the transition to renewables. With our launch of our Sustainable Credit Partners, a private credit platform to fund the decarbonization of middle-market commercial real estate, we hope to play an important role in accelerating carbon reduction from a major contributor of greenhouse gases. #radicallycollaborative #radicallyinnovative #theconduit

In 2022, coal was responsible for 60% of the U.S. power-sector’s carbon emissions, yet only provided 20% of our nation’s power. By replacing coal with clean, affordable, and reliable #NaturalGas, we can cut emissions in half! Learn more about how embracing the partnership between natural gas and renewables can lead us on a pathway to reducing our global emissions faster: https://lnkd.in/eu8V7JAj

Today marks a historic milestone for our planet, as the UK becomes the first developed nation to quit coal. ‘Net Zero by 2030’ is becoming a reality as green tech scales up at speed, like so many transformational technologies before it, offering us all cleaner options to run our businesses and our lives. Reasons to be cheerful on a Monday! Good write up here of the critical issues, and opportunities, facing the sector. #energy #utilities #renewables https://lnkd.in/eUMgAstt

LABOR IS COSTING YOU MORE 💡 The Coaltion has a balanced energy plan, which will deliver cheaper, clean and consistent power. In contrast to Labor’s renewables only approach, which is destroying our Australian landscape and economy. #nuclearenergy

I am sure this is true, however, the problem is that the reliable generation is being deemed redundant by the truly redundant wind and solar. If you take wind and solar out of the equation it would be coal is 60% of the power sectors CO2 emissions and only provided 60% of the nation's power. If natural gas fully replaces coal, we will have the same ratios but less CO2.

As of tomorrow, 1st October, the UK's power sector will be officially coal free ✨ Coal power shrunk from 40% of UK generation in 2012, to just 2% in 2019, and now zero. In the same time period, renewables have grown from 6% to 34% of UK generation. We can repeat this success with gas, enabling more renewables with long-duration storage, but changes are needed to allow us to get there. Let's hope the UK government can apply the same rules of success (supportive policy frameworks, carbon pricing, clear targets) to the next challenge. 💚A historic moment for the UK: Yesterday, the last coal plant shut down, making the UK the first G7 nation to fully end its reliance on coal. This milestone fulfills a 2015 pledge to phase out coal by 2025. It’s a full-circle moment for the country where coal-fired electricity originated—Thomas Edison’s first coal plant in London, under contract with the UK, lit the streets in 1882. Renewables now provide 50% of the UK’s power, up from just 7% in 2010. While natural gas still accounts for a third of the grid, this progress brings us closer to a sustainable energy future. #sustainability #power

Historical moment - UK's last coal-fired power station shuts down A few hours ago, the Ratcliffe power station, the UK's last remaining coal-fired power plant, officially shut down, marking a significant milestone in the country's energy history. This closure brings an end to 142 years of coal use for electricity generation in Britain. The utilisation of this energy source started in 1882 when the world’s first coal-powered station was built in London. Since then, coal has been a cornerstone of industrial growth and energy supply. Now, the UK is stepping into a cleaner, more sustainable future, leaving behind a long legacy of coal in favour of renewable energy sources.
