From experience, when clients are evolving their visual style and approach, committing to a test shoot is a great way to validate the concept. Test or 'style setting' days allow us to confirm the approach to lighting, run through posing references, test wardrobe, colours, and place images into artwork for a sense check. This ensures we're on the right track before the actual shoot day. For the test shoot, I’ll normally work with a model. This allows us to refine our vision so that when we use your people, we can clearly show them what we’re aiming for and how the final images will be incorporated into the artwork. This process really helps bring the project to life and secures buy-in from all parties, including internal teams. By the time shoot day arrives, we’ll be able to focus on getting the most from our subjects, with no surprises.

🍁 🍂 Colour grading is a game-changer in video production. It’s not just about making footage look good—it’s about setting the mood, conveying emotion, and ensuring consistency across your videos. Think of it as the final brushstroke that brings your visual story to life. 🎨 We shoot in RAW to give us maximum freedom and control over the final look. This means we capture all the rich details in the footage— this gives us complete control to perfect the colours, adjust tones, and fine-tune the atmosphere in post-production. In this quick clip from Westonbirt Arboretum, you’ll see how colour grading transforms the vibe of a video. Here, we’ve created a warm, autumnal feel that matches the season and sets the tone for the story. #ColourGrading #VideoProduction #ContentCreation

So many creative ideas might never have come to fruition without one key tool: The mood board. When pitching a concept, it can be challenging to get everyone on the same page, especially when it comes to visual style and tone. That’s where a mood board comes in — it helps transform abstract ideas into shared, tangible visions. In case you're wondering, a mood board is a collection of images, colours, textures, and typography that conveys the look and feel of a project. Like the sunset montage below. Why we use them: They clarify abstract concepts. They spark creativity. They ensure alignment before production begins. They streamline decision-making. They help clients visualise the concept, which makes approval easier. I love mood boards for bridging the gap between an idea and its execution. In my experience, they make the creative process smoother and more effective for everyone involved. #VideoProduction #ProductionAgency #VideoContent #SocialMedia #ContentCreation #208Films

In my work as a designer in the film industry, I’ve been lucky to work on both title and poster designs. These two elements are, for me, always connected. When I think about a title sequence, I also consider how it pairs with the poster. I work closely with producers and directors to ensure the film's visual identity captures its essence. The font, color, and overall design need to match the movie’s mood and theme. I see title and poster design as key parts of a film’s branding. Together, they create the first impression of a movie, hinting at the plot, the genre, or just setting the right tone. The more I combine these two design elements, the more I enjoy the process. It’s exciting to create a visual story that ties everything together, from the first glimpse of the poster to the titles on the screen. Hit me up if you're also a film poster lover. x. cdrc.
