In last quite a few centuries on this planet's capitalism history, the rule seems to be that who have the power, resources, etc. to obtain and control something they own it. Putting the same principle into space, although NASA has Artemis program trying to gather funding and other resources to conquer the Moon, compared with the program operated by China and attended by Russia, France and other countries, China group seems move forward faster and more steady. In next some decades, it's quite possible that China, with some nations, will have the control of Moon and Mars😊 https://lnkd.in/gjUkag7S

As space exploration grows, so do questions about legal responsibility and governance beyond Earth. This Science Friday segment brings in experts Dr. Timiebi Aganaba and Dr. Danielle Wood to discuss space law's evolving landscape, including issues like ownership, resource use, and safety as more countries and private companies launch missions. With new challenges on the horizon—from satellite traffic management to ethical considerations—space law is rapidly adapting to guide fair and safe use of space. To explore how space law is evolving to keep up with the expanding universe of space activities, check out the full segment https://lnkd.in/g6yd-Y4A Source Science Friday

Truly recommend this excellent book for anyone interested in the space industry, policy and law.

Very informative & Interesting article about International Space Law. The Kármán Line, the theoretical limit that is commonly recognized as the boundary between atmosphere and outer space is located at an altitude of 100 kilometers above Earth’s sea level. However, the U.S. does not recognize the Karman Line, instead defining the boundary of space as starting at 80 kilometers above Earth’s surface. Ok, attended my first conference back in 2017 and back them the 🌏 looked swarmed with Space junk, back then it looked like a hornets nest around our 🌏 . Question for us. When do we start to incentivized on orbit Recycling firms that can remacture on orbit garbage and our recycliers off Earth ? When you 🚀🛰️ launch anything you pay a recycling retrieval & recycling program fee , for past current and future launch debris ? Space Recycling Bounty Hunters to manufacturers off planet for the benefit of 🌏. Cleaning up the 🌏 orbital trash and turning it to good is the ultimate Earth month for continuous space clean up . 🛰️🛰️🛰️🚀🚀🚀🚀💫🌏🚀

What should you expect from Ground Control: An Argument for the End of Human Space Exploration? 🌍 We’re T-minus 53 days out until release and I get emails all the time asking for a sneak peak or offering criticism on Ground Control and it’s theories, so I thought I would fill in some of the blanks and offer up some highlights: - Ground Control is the coming of age story of a cultural #anthropologist learning how to navigate a techno-scientific world. If you were ever a young social #scientist trying to understand your place in the “hard sciences”, or know someone who is, then this is the book for you. - The first section of Ground Control “A Letter to Those Lifting Off” is a deep dive into my ethnographic #fieldwork at #Spaceport America, and the first step in how I went from being someone who absolutely idolized human #space exploration to someone who sought to #decolonize and demilitarize it. - The second section focuses on my time working in space #policy, as well as research on congressional hearings and space law. It closely examines how our current space policy landscape perpetuates legacies of colonialism, imperialism, and militarism drawing on case studies and experiences from my time in the industry. - The third section “A Letter to Those Left Behind” takes the complexities and issues I’ve framed through research and offers solutions to them. Ground Control argues that we should focus space science efforts on unmanned space exploration and prioritize #environmental and social issues on #Earth for the time being. Find it at booksellers near you! And don't forget to shop local. https://lnkd.in/es4fzyJP

Interesting counterpoint to my research. The author quotes me but does not offer a deeper analysis of why I say, what I say! "At an online briefing called Race to the Moon, held by SpaceNews, several space policy experts said it is crucial for the US to be the first country to establish a moon base, because whoever is first, would set the rules and principles. Namrata Goswami, coauthor of Scramble for the Skies, said the US would likely establish a more democratic, cooperative system". Here is a link to my piece on why I support a U.S. initiated democratic space order: https://lnkd.in/ghP9DNhK I always enjoy an intellectual debate. If you cannot access the article in full through Bloomberg attached below, then it was republished in the Taipei Times. Here is that link: https://lnkd.in/eXGCnbzD https://lnkd.in/e6NMMakF

Thinking of our pollutants and doing all the work on the ground creates wonderful and inspiring innovations. But as The Principle of Correspondence. "As above, so below; as below, so above"– The Kybalion. "This Principle embodies the truth that there is always a Correspondence between the laws and phenomena of the various planes of Being and Life." Considering solutions to clean our space junk as this can significantly affect all the work below and set us back even further. #spacejunk #earth #instellarobjects #nasa #stratosphere #vaporizemetal #rainmetal #spaceships #spacesolutions
