Community-based programming is so powerful. Low-risk, high-reward strategies need to be funded.
In 2007, Richmond had one of the highest homicide rates in California. That changed after the city implemented Advance Peace, a program that treats gun violence as a public health crisis and uses community-based violence intervention to mediate conflict.
