Transformational Leader | Experienced CEO-COO | Enhancing Growth and Operational Excellence

Exciting news from the World Health Organization (WHO)! They have recently launched MeDevIS, the Medical Devices Information System, the first global open-access platform offering comprehensive information on medical devices. MeDevIS is designed to support governments, regulators, and users in making informed decisions on the selection, procurement, and use of medical devices for diagnostics, testing, and treatment. While this is a fantastic initiative by WHO, to truly benefit from the information this tool will provide, there is also a need to focus on affordability and accessibility of the solutions. Affordability begins with product design and cost management. The platform can provide valuable and centralised information on medical devices, but for the needy to be able to access these equipment is another question. This requires a collective effort to innovate and transform the way we design and produce, but also a new modern focused approach on the “cost to serve”, starting from how we  distribute and service medical devices. Efforts need to be put into raising the accessibility of MeDevIS, so that it can be leveraged effectively by all relevant parties. Transformations in these areas are crucial for maximising the platform's potential while aligning with MeDevIS’s core purpose: enhancing the quality of life for all.
