Does shooting for birdie, ruin your chance of par? And can we take lessons from the course into our businesses? As part of our golf management services we work with our partner RetailTribe to provide personalised academy newsletters for our venues. I love how often the golf advice that drops into members inboxes works for businesses as well! This week one of our coach newsletters focussed on breaking 100. It reflected that if your target is 99, then the best chance you have of reaching it is to focus on scoring 9 bogeys and 9 doubles. It got me thinking about targets in business, particularly when we’re helping clubs implement change. And the importance of a realistic target with changes that feel manageable. If we go into a venue telling coaches and club colleagues every change they need to slash attrition and massively increase spend, they can easily get overwhelmed by the challenge, miss the target and lose faith in the process. But if we give them three significant, but achievable changes. Even if it’s simply in their approach to the task. Then their misses become smaller Their successes become more frequent. And before you know it, we have them ready to start the process of breaking 90 – if you’ll excuse the mixing of my metaphors! I know as golfers, and business people, we all want to make pars and birdies. And we all know that on our day, we can. But if you take a wider view, that incorporates your bad days as well as your best days, I think you stand a much better chance, and will take a much more sustainable route, to whatever success looks like for you. #golfbusiness #targets

Well played Robert Spurrier... the parallels between success in business and success at golf are nearly endless. Risk taking, strategic thinking, performance analytics, social skills, etc. are essential to success.

But it is also important to have the perfect putter product. Do you need a golf supplier now? 😊 Our company can ODM&OEM.
