Multichannel ground penetrating radar can serve many different use cases. This is a great example by Utility Mapping showing the value for pavement inspection, utility detection, and identification of potential voiding hazards - all at once! Excellent work Chris Bower Jeff Ramos and team! Love the little bit of nuance and honesty included by mentioning that the voiding hazards are potential ones. Regular monitoring using GPR can serve as a good early warning system so that further investigations and mitigating measures can be planned.
One of the greatest advantages of 3D Radar is the ability to cover large areas quickly, while detecting features that would otherwise remain hidden. One of our recent projects at a tram depot is a perfect example of how this technology adds value. Partnering our 3D Radar with a QL-B survey, we discovered key underground features that traditional methods would have likely missed: - 5 buried manhole covers - 3 areas of potential subsurface voiding – providing early information before a hazard occurs - 95 buried railway sleepers These findings were all detected efficiently without disrupting public traffic or the surrounding community - a win for both our client and locals. But we didn’t stop there. The data also enabled us to create a detailed asphalt analysis point cloud across the entire area, providing in-depth surface insights for future maintenance and planning. With 3D Radar, we’re uncovering the unseen and undocumented, paving the way for safer, smarter infrastructure development. #UtilityMapping #3DRadar #GPR #Planning #Maintenance #Construction
