BE YOU YOU YOU NOT ME ME ME. A strong #personalbrand can be a true gamechanger. But many people in their 50s struggle with the concept of it. The reasons are obvious: Many of us have a long career that is packed with expertise that needs to be transformed into a narrative and strategy that makes us look fresh, attractive, up-for-the-challenge and forward-looking, while additionally navigating the age-challenge. And if it wasn’t difficult enough to be on the stairway to our “late career”, where everything somehow feels different, it's the age where searching for a job is no longer a new adventure and for some of us, can be a stressful experience that sometimes leads to doubting your value and expertise. A strong personal brand can help there. It helps us with the 5Rs: 🚀 Reflect on what we have done 🚀 Remind ourselves about our achievements 🚀 Reconsider our strengths 🚀 Reemphasize our capabilities 🚀 Reinvent ourselves Therefore, let’s call it “rebranding”. So how do you get started? By asking the question: “What can I do for you?” Have a look at our CMO’s Susanne Deobald's article outlining her very genuine story and own experience. https://lnkd.in/d_hSr_Xb For more go to www.rocket50.io – our coaches will help you with individual consulting on everything around your late career. #change #rebranding #personalbranding #50plus #jobsearch50+ #career50+ #agediversity #change

Reflecting on my career to date, focus is everything. Years ago, I co-founded a platform for creatives. It was a mix of social network and marketplace, where artists could sell their work. We thought we were smart, combining social networking with a shop platform. But we spread ourselves too thin. We had too many features and not enough focus. And we kept adding more. It was too much. We couldn’t concentrate on one thing, and it hurt us. Looking back, I learned a crucial lesson: focus is key. Here are my takeaways (which may not be new, but we all know that repetition helps with learning): 🎯 Think big, start small: It's vital to have grand ideas and ambitious plans, but when launching, start with a simpler, manageable version. 📈 Embrace Sales: Face the challenge of marketing and selling your not-perfect product, despite it being potentially unpleasant. 🏫 Learn from every step: Even if things don’t go as planned, there’s always a lesson. After closing that chapter, I took a break and went back to university. It was the right move. I needed to recharge and refocus. Today, I strive to bring focus into every aspect of my work—whether it's deciding on projects, hiring talent, creating campaigns, or choosing channels. What’s your biggest career lesson? #Focus #CareerGrowth #LessonsLearned

2 Great Reasons Why Branding Matters (A Lot!) #1 You might be thinking. Hey I’m just an employee. This is not even my company and I never want to write a book anyway, so I don’t need to bother about building my brand. But what if you get laid off? What then? You will be in the market for a job, or trying to start your own business. You will be competing with others just like you, in the thousands and that’s when profile really does count. It’s always easier to build when you don’t need it urgently and have a longer runway. #2 Social profile is essential. If I’m recommending someone for a job, a board position or a role of any sort, one of the first things we do is to check their social media pages to see how active they are. If they are not connected, tweeting, blogging or contributing to the industry conversation in some way, it’s a sign to me they are just closed up to themselves and not staying relevant with what’s happening. Or maybe they are but they aren’t sharing. That’s a mini red flag. P.S. Starting is tough but if you are inspired to delay no more, get in touch with a DM. #Career #Branding

How do you mix multiple passions into a sustainable career? No really, how? This is something I’ve been trying to figure out for a while and it’s one of the reasons I haven’t decided on a route to take when it comes to my branding and what I want to create/ share. Part of the problem is, is that I know the best way to figure that out is to just start and over time it will get a flow and figure out a good rhythm. The problem I have is I am trying to create a lifestyle that can actually focus on combining all these passions, while growing my business, while trying to focus on my relationships, etc. etc. etc. - that essentially skips most of that “figuring it out” phase. I am close to getting my “formula” as you might put it, that will allow me to consistently create and grow - close being a loose term. A few more brainstorming sessions and “silent walks” will help for sure, but I want to know if anyone else has struggled with combining multiple passions and what you found helped best to create a lifestyle that actually works. Let me know, I’d love to hear from you! #contentcreation #personalbrand #consistency 7/30

Extracted from Secrets of Online Entrepreneurs by Bernadette Schwerdt which sums up why personal branding matters. I might have missed out a word here or there but the essence of the message is intact. Book was published in 2015 and today, these evergreen messages have become increasingly relevant than ever before. It takes effort to brand but if you are not investing in your own reputation, what else are you doing? p.s. By the way, this is also a very good book on entrepreneurship especially if you are already in the thick of your own business building #Career #Branding

I had no idea what I was doing. (Turned out the best thing I did.) The best thing was Personal Branding. At first, I felt unsure if I was doing the right thing. I had quit my job without figuring out What I wanted to do now. I wondered if I’d made the right choice. I was scared but I wanted to give it a shot. I decided to trust my instincts and explore new paths. I started building my personal brand. Fast forward to today, → I work with international client. → I enjoy each day as a new learning day. → I have a network of inspiring people around the world. → I’m pursuing my dream career without having a degree. → I have made friends for life without even meeting them in real. You don't need a degree or certificate to define your career. You have the power to make a career in what you love and are passionate about. P.S. Are you ready to crush it until it's Friday again?
