#WASH Title: Who’s responsible? Sorting out mandates for regulation of sanitation services Event: World Water Week Year: 2022 Reference: This video shows a session that took place at Stockholm World Water Week in 2022. The session presents promising regulatory and accountability models that are currently being implemented and discusses ways to achieve success. History shows that professionally managed and regulated service delivery models are key to accelerating progress towards safely managed sanitation. Clear mandates and solid accountability are the basis for organizing the sector. Before formulating more detailed regulatory mechanisms for the various links in the sanitation chain, a critical first step is to close gaps and remove overlaps in mandates for regulating sanitation. https://lnkd.in/dcbi_4VX

Sometimes back I asked here whether you WASH practitioners think that market-based sanitation would solve the sanitation problem. Just over 50% of you said Yes, 10% No, and 40% said Maybe. The Nos and the May Bes had a lot of insights in the comments and inbox from their personal experiences. I synthesized 9 points that organizations should think about before considering venturing into market based sanitation in the video below. I appreciate many of you who anonymously participated in the poll. Feel free to add more in the comments. #PREF4WASH Sandec-Eawag #MarketBasedSanitation
