Working as a Project Engineer at MACTEX has significantly boosted my professional and personal development. I’ve gained valuable hands-on experience in managing projects from start to finish, enhancing my engineering knowledge and problem-solving skills. On a personal level, collaborating with different teams has strengthened my communication and teamwork abilities, making me more confident in sharing ideas and working within a group. 2.⁠ ⁠What’s the most exciting project you’ve worked on at MACTEX? The most exciting project was developing an innovative close-looped powder conveying system for a key client, transforming their manual process into an automated one and reducing utility consumption. It was challenging, especially with the need for ATEX certification, which was new to me. But overcoming these hurdles and seeing the project succeed in cost reduction and sustainability was incredibly rewarding. 3.⁠ ⁠How do you see MACTEX evolving in the next five years, and how do you see yourself contributing to that vision? I see MACTEX leading in sustainable and cost-efficient solutions, advancing technologies that optimize production and resource use. I plan to contribute by refining our processes to enhance efficiency and sustainability, using my project experience to help MACTEX innovate and stay competitive. 4.⁠ ⁠What’s one unique aspect of MACTEX’s culture that you appreciate? I truly appreciate MACTEX’s strong culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing. The teamwork here is incredible, with everyone willing to help and share their expertise, making it easier to solve complex problems and continue learning.

Christian Kaletsch, Innovation Manager at Schenck RoTec, recently spoke about these expectations at konaktiva - and gave the students tips on which qualities are particularly in demand in mechanical engineering. In addition to technical aptitude, here are some of the applicant skills we at #Schenck look for: ✅ Communication skills Working in a team does not work without communication. Solutions need to be found, misunderstandings prevented and successes shared! Good communication simplifies the work of the entire team. ✅ Adaptability The framework conditions for your own work are constantly changing - and the influence comes from outside! Laws and markets change and employees have to adapt in order to thrive in the new circumstances. ✅ Method-based way of working Knowledge is good, but knowing how to solve problems is even better! This requires the right methods and a keen eye! ✅ Understanding and reducing complexity As an expert, you often work together with colleagues who are not familiar with the topic - especially at management level! Today, meet Yuri Orlov, a passionate mechanical engineer.   ▶ What is your part in our mission to bring clean energy to the world? As a mechanical engineer, my role is to take the innovative and sometimes out-of-the-box concepts from our physicists and power electronics teams and turn them into tangible, functional technologies. My work ensures that these ideas are not just theoretical but are developed into real-world solutions that contribute to our mission. ▶ What drew you to nT-τao, and how has your journey been here so far? I was drawn to nT-Tao for its dynamic, fast-paced environment and the opportunity to be involved in almost every aspect of the engineering process. My journey here has been incredibly rewarding, with new ideas and designs emerging daily, keeping me fully engaged and constantly learning.   ▶ What aspect of your job are you most passionate about and why? I'm most passionate about teamwork at nT-Tao. It's inspiring to see how everyone here is so committed to our shared goals. When I need input or advice, my colleagues are always ready to help, often putting aside their tasks to collaborate. This spirit of cooperation makes every challenge easier to tackle and every success sweeter.   ▶ What is your biggest hope for when nT-τao reaches the goal of commercialized compact fusion power? My biggest hope is to one day see global GHG emissions declining and know that our work at nT-Tao played a significant role in that positive change. Being able to point at that and say out loud: "That was us!" would be the ultimate fulfillment of our mission.   ▶ If you weren’t in your profession, what would be your second career choice? I guess I'd want to be a carpenter or a park ranger.
