Anticipating key HR cultural flashpoints in California for 2025: 🔹 New Employment Laws: Changes to minimum wage and leave provisions will require policy updates and training adjustments to align with forthcoming regulations. 🔹 Political and Religious Communications: Regulations safeguarding employees who opt out of political or religious engagement emphasize the necessity of clear communication policies promoting workplace inclusivity. 🔹 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI): Sustained attention on DEI matters, such as addressing workplace harassment and sexual misconduct, remains critical for fostering a supportive work environment. Staying informed and proactive in navigating these HR challenges in California is paramount for organizational success.

The holidays have come early. 🎉 Excited to share that the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance picked up my short article: "Labor Rights: Engagement Trends and Shareholder Proposals." 🙌 I explore the growing importance of labor rights in corporate governance, diving into: 📈 The surge in labor-related shareholder proposals—up 22.6% annually since 2019. 📊 Key voting trends and investor support for these proposals. 🤝 Strategies for investors to engage companies on critical issues like human capital management, wage equity, and worker safety. Labor rights aren't just a moral imperative—they’re integral to mitigating regulatory, legal, and reputational risks while driving long-term value for shareholders. 💡 Special thanks to Stephanie Radcliffe and Shane Carroll for their collaboration. I’d love to hear your thoughts Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/e4jEMHDJ #ESG #CorporateGovernance #LaborRights #SustainableInvesting #ShareholderEngagement

Why a petition against SHRM? I'm so glad you asked! This isn't just about opposition for the sake of opposition. I genuinely believe in the power of community organizing and collective action. I recently came across a tweet that I can’t stop thinking about. It said that people fear traveling back in time because a small action might drastically change the present, yet we don’t apply this same logic to the present and future. This petition is our small action, a step towards a more inclusive and equitable HR industry. We hope to use the support for this petition to: 〰 Shift our industry’s reliance on big certifications. We believe that by gathering public support, we can encourage HR leaders to recognize and value diverse knowledge and experiences in our field. 〰 Include more balanced perspectives on workplace issues. We plan to lobby for more viewpoints to be considered by lawmakers when addressing workplace matters. We just crossed 600 signatures. Every voice counts, and together, we can drive real change. Please consider signing! https://lnkd.in/gg-CwBbh
