Responsible tourism is the future of travel and tourism. Tourism authorities at the helm of the industry's leadership play a significant role in how they enhance it's awareness and integration in practice. Sharing my insight with the "Good Tourism" & "GT" Travel I question whether Kenya's tourism is responsible and why responsible tourism is not integrated in Kenya's tourism growth strategy. Do you think Kenya's tourism has the potential to be responsible? How can tourism in Kenya be more responsible? Share your thoughts. #ResponsibleTourism #TourisminKenya #GoodTourism https://lnkd.in/dvTAPtF4

#Tourism Is on the Rise. How to Manage It Well? ⛵️ Tourism is back with a vengeance post-COVID and is growing at record pace: the United Nations World Tourism Organization estimates that international tourism will grow by 15% year-on-year in 2024, returning to pre-pandemic levels. Some popular travel destinations around the world are already struggling to cope with the impact of overtourism: obviously places like Venice or Bali, but also some destinations in my beloved Greece, former hidden gems that are now hardly coping in terms of infrastructure and service. BCG's new Tourism report shares some concrete advice on managing growth to find a path balancing economic and social development with environmental sustainability and the needs of local residents: 🏖 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆: Implement visitor limits and fees to control the number of tourists and reduce overcrowding. 🏞️ 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗢𝘂𝘁: Promote lesser-known attractions and use data to manage tourist flow, ensuring a more balanced distribution of visitors. 📣 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: Educate travelers on respectful behavior and local norms to minimize their impact on local communities. 🗺️ 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: Develop long-term plans to distribute tourists more evenly throughout the year, enhancing sustainability. 👉 Tourism revenues in Portugal boost business growth in the sector In May 2024, tourism revenues in Portugal reached a new record, totaling 2,444.50 million euros. This figure represents a significant increase of 11.7% compared to the same month in 2023 and an impressive growth of 56.7% compared to May 2019, before the pandemic. The strong performance of the tourism sector is driven by several factors, including the increase in the number of tourists visiting Portugal, the rise in average spending per tourist and the diversification of source markets. Travel and tourism contributed significantly to the increase in exports of services, with an increase of 256 million euros. The growth in tourism revenue and balance suggests an increase in demand for travel to Portugal, which directly benefits the sector's businesses. In summary, the data from the Bank of Portugal indicates an extremely positive scenario for tourism business in Portugal, with strong growth in demand, an increase in revenues and in the balance of the Travel and Tourism item, and a climate of optimism that drives the development of the sector. #seecountries #tourism #portuguesetourism

As the organiser and with the support of the General Directorate for Tourism of the Ministère de l'Économie - Luxembourg, we are taking the opportunity to showcase destination Luxembourg in its European spirit. The European Travel Commission is a non-profit organisation representing the national tourism organisations of Europe. Founded in 1948, ETC was originally established as a European initiative to promote travel to a post-war Europe in the US. Luxembourg is a proud founding member of ETC, and is among the 36 tourism board members today, along with 17 associate members from the private sector around the world. The goal is to work together to build the value of tourism across diverse European destinations through cooperation in best-practice sharing, market intelligence, and promotion. Always good to start a fresh new week with good news! We spotted this on Bizcommunity.com on 24 May. It is also fantastic news for our events industry due to how we are interconnected to travel and tourism. Travelers attending events are more and more mixing business with leisure tourism. Whilst they are actually business travelers, they connect to different sectors of the tourism and hospitality industry and regarded as part of the fast-growing 'bleisure' sector. 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒: SA emerges as Africa’s Top Tourism Economy in 2024 TTDI "The Department of Tourism has announced that South Africa has achieved the highest ranking in the African region in the Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) according to the World Economic Forum. This recognition comes as the country’s tourism industry continues to navigate rapid economic recovery and efforts to boost tourism growth. The Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) 2024 is the second edition of an index by the World Economic Forum and was released earlier this week where South Africa was ranked 55th among 119 countries and emerged as the leading country in the rankings for the African continent. The TTDI findings revealed that South Africa is home to the largest travel and tourism economy in Africa." https://lnkd.in/dPSP5gjX #Travel #tourism #news #business #events
