It's not often that I get political here, but I was alarmed at Keir Starmer's post-Labour party conference interview today. Zero confidence in himself, his vision and in the Bitish people was my key feeling and that he is caught in the headlights of actually being in power and having a mandate. It got me thinking. What is Great Britain great at anymore? What are we in the top ten for globally anymore? What do we get for the massive cost and tax burden we have inflicted on us? Why does it feel hard to actually get ahead currently? Why does policy feel so anti-citizen and anti-growth - both economic and individual? I realise I am privileged and don't have it hard, but I fully understand why people are discouraged and disincentivised. This is the sentiment of everyone I speak to currently - except for Steve, who thinks London is still the best city in the world... Here is my summary: "Britain is a poor first-world country in rapid decline with a rich city propping most of it up; why is our political class not being radical and changing the incentives

U.S Business Delegation Discusses Business Opportunities with Government A business delegation from the United States of America led by US Ambassador to Papua New Guinea, H.E. Ann Marie Yastishock, met with Prime Minister James Marape and selected state ministers on Wednesday 19 November, exploring business opportunities between the two countries. The 16-member delegation is headed by Sarah Morgenthau, Special Representative from the Office of Commerce and Business Affairs of the US State Department’s Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs, comprising representatives from the US government and private sector. The aim of the visit is to explore and discuss business opportunities between the US and Papua New Guinea. This is in line with the agenda pushed by Prime Minister Marape to US President Joe Biden’s administration over the recent years, to have more American presence in the Pacific, including Papua New Guinea, and to elevate Pacific nations’ relationship with the US from reliance on aid and grants to proper engagement in trade and commerce.
