“The increase in tourist visits has not been balanced with adequate investment in infrastructure developments, resulting in congestion.” That is the least you can say. A few weeks ago, it took me more than two hours to drive from Canggu to Bingin. The solutions so far? 1. The Badung Regency Government is planning a new access route in the south, with land acquisition expected to be completed in 2024. 2. Extend the toll road to reduce the traffic on Jalan Uluwatu. Any other ideas to improve the traffic congestion in Uluwatu? #trafficcongestion #bali #baliindonesia

The first quarter of 2024 saw an unheard-of spike in visitor numbers to Sikkim, a state renowned for its unspoiled natural beauty, rich cultural legacy, and enchanted weather. The Himalayan state appeals to nature lovers, thrill seekers, and connoisseurs of culture due to its distinct combination of climate, landscape, and culture.Up till March 31, 2024, Sikkim received a record-breaking 290,401 tourists—256,537 domestic guests and 30,864 foreign visitors—according to figures from the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department. This increase is credited to the recovery of Sikkim's hotel sector, which was severely damaged by the catastrophic October 2023 flash floods. Sikkim has shown a consistent rise in tourists over the last ten years, with numbers going from 576,749 in 2013 to 1,625,573 in 2023. With a strong start in 2024, estimates suggest that if the current growth rate continues, the destination might receive 1.2 million tourists by the end of the year. One of the main reasons for the increase in foot traffic is Sikkim's rich cultural diversity. Sikkim is home to a variety of ethnic communities, including the Lepcha, Bhutia, and Nepalese. Its festivals, customs, and food all honor its rich past. The state is also an all-season attraction due to its year-round pleasant weather.

It’s happening! The construction of the Bali Railway Network (BRN) starts this year 🙌🏽 Scheduled for launch in September 2024, the BRN will link the International Airport with key locations, including Seminyak, Mengwi, Denpasar, and Kuta. "Our aim is to create a system where both local and tourist traffic flows smoothly, enhancing the overall experience for visitors and residents." The impact on local real estate? 1. Increase in property values: Data suggests that property values around new transport hubs rise. 2. Areas previously off the radar will become more accessible, making them prime investment opportunities. Start scouting for these opportunities now. 3. Areas that lost popularity will be hot again: time to reinvest in Kuta? Any thoughts on the BRN? #bali #baliindonesia #InvestmentOpportunities #SustainableDevelopment #indonesia https://lnkd.in/g8zHJ36R

Today, on June 21, as we celebrate the June solstice, it's important to recognize the rich cultural heritage and seasonal celebrations of Indigenous peoples around the globe, from Inti Raymi in the Andes, which honors the sun god Inti, to We Tripantu, the Mapuche New Year celebrating nature’s renewal, and Matariki, the Māori New Year marking the appearance of the Pleiades star cluster. These observances not only celebrate cultural traditions but also emphasize the essential role of Indigenous tourism in valuing culture, revitalizing languages, protecting territories, and promoting sustainability. Indigenous tourism offers a platform for Indigenous communities to share their heritage, ensuring that their traditional knowledge leads the way in sustainable practices that benefit both communities and visitors. Real sustainable tourism must leave no one behind, making it vital that Indigenous peoples are in charge of their tourism development. By supporting Indigenous-led tourism, we contribute to cultural preservation, environmental stewardship, and the recognition and appreciation of Indigenous contributions worldwide. Happy winter solstice in the Southern Hemisphere and happy summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere! Let’s embrace the new cycle filled with opportunities to support and learn from Indigenous communities globally. #IndigenousTourism #CulturalCelebrations #WinterSolstice #SustainableTourism #IntiRaymi #WeTripantu #Matariki #CulturalDiversity #Sustainability
