Pallavi Sehgal The long answer: 2025: The Year of Renaissance at the Crossroads For years, BoF has framed critical moments in fashion through the lens of the “crossroads.” From France at a Crossroads (2017) to India’s Fashion Industry at a Crossroads (2020), the Creative Crossroads (2023), and most recently Lululemon at a Crossroads (2024), these recurring moments have mapped out a decade of challenges, evolution, and opportunity. And now, in 2025, those many crossroads have converged into something larger—a rare moment of transformation. With nine major houses appointing new creative directors, we are witnessing the kind of opportunity that comes along perhaps once in a generation—a moment as rare as the rise of the Antwerp Six in the 1980s. Why This Moment Matters BoF’s use of the “crossroads” metaphor reminds us that inflection points demand action. But what happens when so many align at the same time? 1. New Creative Leadership Appointments like: • Matthieu Blazy @ Chanel • Sarah Burton @ Givenchy • Louise Trotter @ Bottega Veneta • Veronica Leoni @ Calvin Klein • Haider Ackermann @ Tom Ford These creative leaders carry the potential to: • Reimagine heritage for modern audiences. • Align luxury with sustainability, inclusivity, and digital innovation. • Redefine storytelling through craftsmanship and authenticity. 2. The Zeitgeist Moment Past crossroads moments—whether Lululemon’s strategic recalibration or India’s entrepreneurial resilience—show that transformation emerges when leaders embrace challenges like: • Sustainability pressures (circularity, slow fashion). • Digital transformation (AI, metaverse, virtual fashion). • Cultural inclusivity, reflecting diverse and authentic global stories. 3. Craftsmanship and Long-Term Value The renewed focus on craftsmanship reflects consumer demand for longevity and emotional resonance. Designers like Blazy and Ackermann are set to bridge the gap between heritage and experimentation, balancing innovation with artistry. From Crossroads to Renaissance BoF asked: “Is this an inflection point for luxury fashion?” In 2025, the answer feels clear: Yes—if this rare moment is seized. We stand not just at another crossroads, but at the edge of a renaissance, where creative leaders can craft a new blueprint for the industry—one that is sustainable, inclusive, and innovative. This is the moment to redefine the map entirely. I live in hope. What about you? Will this generation of creative leaders step into the challenge? Let’s discuss. #LuxuryRenaissance #CreativeLeadership #FashionCrossroads #SustainabilityInLuxury #FashionInnovation #HeritageAndCraftsmanship #LuxuryFashion #InflectionPoint #FutureOfFashion @The Business of Fashion @Marc Bain @Phyllida Jay @Vikram Alexei Kansara

New York and Paris: Fashion Capitals at a Crossroads New York has long been revered as a global fashion capital, much like Paris. But as McKinsey & Company's latest insights reveal, New York is at a pivotal moment, facing challenges and opportunities that could redefine its status. As someone deeply connected to the worlds of fashion and brand strategy, I see a fascinating parallel between the dynamics of these two iconic cities. Paris, my home city, has always been synonymous with timeless elegance, a place where history meets innovation in every couture house and concept store. Like New York, Paris has had to navigate the shifting tides of consumer preferences, sustainability demands, and technological advancements. Both cities share a legacy of being at the forefront of fashion but must now adapt to remain relevant in a rapidly evolving global landscape. For New York, the challenges are clear: from economic pressures to the need for more inclusive and diverse representation. But challenges bring opportunity. Just as Paris reinvented itself with initiatives that merged heritage with modernity, New York's fashion industry has the chance to innovate, embrace sustainability, and build on its unique multicultural edge. Fashion capitals are not defined just by their past but by their ability to anticipate the future. For brands and retailers, the lesson is the same: adapt, evolve, and stay ahead of the curve. After all, in both Paris and New York, fashion isn't just about clothing—it's a statement, a reflection of society, and a powerful force for change. Let's keep our eyes on these two iconic cities as they continue to shape the future of fashion. ✨ #FashionIndustry #BrandStrategy #Sustainability #Innovation #Retail #NewYork #Paris #GlobalMarkets #Leadership #FutureOfFashion

The Art of Collaboration: High Fashion Meets Modern Appeal At Retyche, we celebrate the evolution of fashion, where timeless luxury intersects with contemporary culture. Recent collaborations, such as the highly anticipated Skims x Dolce & Gabbana partnership, are redefining the boundaries of high fashion. These creative unions not only capture global attention but also align with our mission to make luxury fashion more accessible, sustainable, and inclusive. When Skims, a modern shapewear and loungewear brand, teamed up with Dolce & Gabbana, the result was a marriage of minimalism and opulence. The collaboration showcased reimagined archive pieces from Dolce & Gabbana’s iconic collections, styled with Skims’ signature simplicity. It was a perfect blend of the past and present, catering to a broad audience while maintaining the exclusivity of high fashion. This trend of collaboration is becoming more than a passing strategy—it's a way for heritage brands to stay relevant in a rapidly changing industry. By teaming up with brands like Skims, which resonate deeply with younger, digitally-savvy consumers, high fashion houses are opening their doors to new demographics. These collaborations inject fresh perspectives into traditional design while amplifying their cultural relevance in an era where storytelling and inclusivity drive consumer loyalty. At Retyche, we see these collaborations as a reflection of the broader shift towards making luxury more approachable. While partnerships like Skims x Dolce & Gabbana showcase modern innovation, we aim to extend this vision by offering preloved luxury items, ensuring timeless pieces find new homes. By giving customers access to luxury at attainable prices, we continue to champion the ethos of blending heritage with inclusivity—just as these collaborations do.

Industry experts Joëlle Grunberg, Linda Liu, Maurice Obeid, and Colleen Baum have authored a fascinating study for McKinsey & Company that has been the topic of discussion for us in the last few days with our network: is New York still the fashion capital it once was? This report names several factors including the decentralization of influence, industry consolidation, and the high cost of living and doing business in the city that are posing challenges to New York's reputation as a fashion center. Iconic multi-brand retailers Barneys New York, Henri Bendel, Lord + Taylor, and Opening Ceremony have closed. 98% of luxury segment growth is controlled by four Europe-based organizations: Hermès, LVMH, Kering, and Richemont. Instead of debuting their collections at #NewYorkFashionWeek, many American fashion labels are choosing to present at Fashion Weeks around the globe. The report also examines the importance of nurturing emerging talent - while NYC houses incredible fashion institutions like The Fashion Institute of Technology, LIM College, and Parsons School of Design - The New School, the overall educational sector could benefit from strengthening its focus on the business components of the fashion industry like finance, merchandising, and supply chain/logistics. Additionally, collaboration across industries could strengthen New York’s position in the global fashion scene - with SXSW specifically cited as a great example of a cross-industry event. The city's rich history and diverse cultural landscape, alongside strategic efforts to revive industry demand, could help reclaim its status as a leading fashion hub. Congratulations to Joelle and her co-authors for producing such an insightful and optimistic study on how New York can reclaim its position in the global fashion world. #nyfw #fashionindustry #business #mckinsey #industryinsights

Each stitch at JourneyXX is a step towards change. For me starting JourneyXX was more than just pursuing a passion for fashion; it was about making a difference. I remember the first time I held a piece of fabric. It felt like holding the future. I felt freedom, the desire to design was always in me Now I had the perfect outlet. That moment sparked a journey of creating clothing that not only is timeless and luxurious But has the DNA of sustainability in it. I aim to ensure that every piece created at JourneyXX 1. Represents a commitment to true sustainable luxury 2. Is beyond the idea of fast fashion 3. Proves that style and sustainability can coexist beautifully. 4. Each piece is crafted with a purpose beyond fashion. 6. Is stylish, chic, timeless and a testament to luxury At JourneyXX, we believe that every small step, every stitch, can lead to significant change.
