Democracy exists only with participation. Your vote is your voice.
This gave me chills. I can't believe it was only 152 year ago ❗ In 1872, Susan B. Anthony and 14 bold women demanded the right to vote to be recognized as full citizens of the United States. Her courage laid the groundwork, inspiring generations of women to come. Thank you to these remarkable women for blaizing the trail so that today we can all exercise our right to vote. After all, your #vote is your voice 🗳 The Female Quotient

These photos from House of Commons, show the diversity within our Cabinet ministers and Caucus compared to the conservatives. Take a look at the representation in each frame— it’s hard not to see how our Liberal government ensures women are not just present but pivotal in our decision-making. Meanwhile, you only see women in photos of the conservative caucus when you see the leader - the limited number of conservative women MPs strategically arranged around him giving the impression of a higher proportion of women than is actually the fact. Our dedication to women’s rights, including access to free contraceptives, is not just a policy but a promise. We will continue to protect the rights guaranteed in our Charter of Rights and Freedoms and of course women’s right to choose. Women’s rights are human rights. #GenderEquality #womensrightsarehumanrights

This conversation reaches far beyond U.S. politics—it’s about rights that shape our lives: our autonomy, our health, and our futures. For women around the world, the stakes are high. Reproductive rights and gender equality aren’t just American issues; they’re global imperatives, crucial to economic security, well-being, and the ability to live fulfilling lives. These rights cross borders, uniting women everywhere in the pursuit of dignity, health, and fairness. As a Canadian, this might not impact me firsthand politically, but the potential ripple effect is real and terrifying. I don’t want to see any woman, within our borders or beyond, face the threat of having her rights stripped away. When women have the power to make choices about their health and future, entire societies thrive.
My belief is that women will vote in record numbers and will vote for Harris in order to protect their rights. I know the polls say it’s close but I want to believe that the sisterhood is more of a driving force than anything else could ever be. Some may say it’s not my place to discuss US politics but it in fact is the place of every woman around the world to speak out, defend and protect the rights we have fought so hard to gain and retain. And we all know there is so much work left to be done around the world in the name of equality. I feel the gathering of a voice that won’t be silenced and while it may be closer than many of us in the free world would like, the women will prevail.

🏛️Join the #civility pledge movement initiated by Mayor Marianne Meed Ward (C.Dir.). Details: https://lnkd.in/gAF6t7xC We pledge to: 1. Support each other and call out #abuse and #harassment when we see it or experience it; 2. Call on all our allies to stand with us to support women in office and call out all forms of abuse and harassment; 3. Call on all elected officials to uphold the highest standards of conduct, focusing on #respectful debate of the issues and not personal attacks; 4. Call on the relevant authorities to ensure the protection of individuals who speak out against abuse, or who experience abuse, providing them with the necessary support and resources.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to and signed the H.E.R. Halton pledge back in May to end harassment of women in government. We have started a movement -- with the pledge being picked up nationally by the Canadian Association of Feminist Parliamentarians! We are now working on what are our next steps and intend to open up our original H.E.R. pledge and invite any elected officials who want to sign on to reach out to my office. We will keep a rolling update, including on my website. If any elected official hasn't done so and would like to, please let us know and we'll add new names as they come in. I also encourage elected officials to reach out to their own networks of women to include anyone who wishes to participate. Wow! I'm so proud of our office for wining this incredibly important award for the **fourth** time! Recipients of this award were able to describe in 1000 words or less how we embody the the mission of AWLA: to promote and encourage the success of women lawyers throughout the State of Arizona. It was tough to distill it down, but with the help of Jimi Feldman, we were able to share a taste of all that we do. A few highlights worth sharing here: (1) As of June 30, 2024, our US offices are comprised of 69% women, and 59% of our managing partners in US offices are women. We are particularly proud of the women's representation in our Phoenix office. This location is comprised of 72% women overall, hosting 75% women partners and 71% women associates. Additionally, the office is overseen by a woman managing partner, Sandra Reguerin who also sits on Fragomen’s Executive and Finance Committees. (2) The Phoenix office’s book club read Crying in H Mart, a memoir that explores the complex relationship between a daughter and her mother, themes of identity and the challenges of navigating loss and family expectations. (3) In November 2023, the Phoenix office organized a canned food drive for Maggie’s Place – an organization that supports women experiencing homelessness during pregnancy and their baby’s first year. (4) The Women’s Inclusion Network (WIN) is the largest employee resource group at the firm with representation from 90% of our North America offices. (5) Phoenix Partner Jill Bloom was recently recognized in Corporate Counsel’s 2024 Women, Influence & Power in Law Awards in the “Mentor & Mentee Collaboration” category for her exceptional ability to empower and guide others. (6) Fragomen is a women-owned business, and we are currently applying for certification as a Women Business Enterprise. We recognize that the achievement of diverse figures is not the destination; we remain intentional and strategic in our inclusion programming to help Fragomen become a center of belonging and make tangible positive differences in our firm culture.
We are proud to be recognized by the Maricopa Chapter of the ARIZONA WOMEN LAWYERS ASSOCIATION with the 2024 All in For Women Award! This award is given to organizations furthering the AWLA's mission to promote and encourage the success of women lawyers throughout the state of Arizona. Members of Fragomen's Phoenix team were also happy to celebrate this honor at the Association's award reception last week! 🏆⭐ Learn more: https://bit.ly/4ehB7tN 📸 Pictured from left to right: Partners Sandra Reguerin and Jill Bloom, Associate Hannah Jahn and Senior Associate Cate Hill #WomenInLaw #Arizona #Phoenix #ImmigrationLaw #ImmigrationServies

In this election, there’s been a surprising uproar over the number of women who chose to vote for Donald Trump. It’s as if certain people can’t wrap their heads around women making their own choices, especially when those choices don’t align with the “approved” narrative. Here’s the thing: women have every right to think critically about policies and candidates, weighing what truly benefits their lives and their rights. Why is it that the left and the Democratic Party see themselves as the “saviors” of women, yet become outraged when women exercise their right to vote as they see fit? Let’s face it—many Democratic policies have eroded certain women’s rights. For example, the introduction of transgender athletes in women’s sports is erasing the level playing field women fought for with Title IX. Additionally, policies that allow men to enter women’s safe spaces if they simply “identify” as female are chipping away at women’s rights to privacy and safety. It’s perplexing to think that, while these issues directly affect women, the left still insists women should fall in line and vote for their agenda. To us, this sounds like the opposite of empowerment. Women should be free to vote based on what they believe is best for their lives, their families, and their futures. Telling women they have to vote a certain way or for a specific candidate undermines the very foundation of choice and autonomy that women’s rights are built on. We may just be a group of guys approaching politics with a bit of logic, but it seems to us that genuine respect for women’s rights starts with respecting their right to think, decide, and vote as they see fit. Let's respect their pronouns as well. As EU member states continue nominating Commissioners, we urge them to propose both women and men for these jobs. Proven by the gains for women's rights during the last Commission's mandate, equal representation in decision-making is crucial to achieving a better EU for all.

The conversation surrounding women’s right to vote is a classic example of the dangers of a single narrative. When the Woman’s Suffrage movement is discussed, the ratification of the 19th amendment on August 18, 1920 and the access achieved for white women is often centered. For another 45 years, societal practices would prohibit women from marginalized communities to exercise this right. We’re taught that these issues are separate - a gender issue and a race issue - when in fact they are intertwined. The intersection of our identities only heighten our level of need. Adella Hunt Logan was a Tuskegee Institute faculty member who wrote for The Crisis, an NAACP publication, once shared “if white women needed the vote to protect their rights, then black women – victims of racism as well as sexism – needed the ballot even more.” The passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 accomplished what the Women’s Suffrage movement set out to do - securing the right to vote for women - ALL Women - and so many more. When society anchors to a single narrative, we only see a fragment of the whole picture. #womensleadership #womenshistorymonth #womenempowerment #challengethestatusquo #DEI #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #TransparentWriting #EquitableFuture #LiveYourTruth #RaiseOurVoices #WomensHistoryMonth #WomxnsHistoryMonth #CelebratingWomen #Women #Womxn

The journey towards women's suffrage was arduous, with years of resistance from cultural norms, lawmakers, and even some women. Despite the deeply ingrained societal attitudes and legal barriers, the women's suffrage movement persisted, using protests, lobbying, and legal challenges to gain momentum. It is important to acknowledge that the fight for suffrage was not a monolithic movement. The 15th Amendment granted African-Americans the right to vote decades earlier, highlighting the intersectionality of the struggle for civil rights. The ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920 marked a significant milestone in the fight for women's rights, granting women the legal right to vote and participate in the democratic process. As we celebrate Women's Suffrage Day, let us take a moment to honor the efforts of those who fought tirelessly for this fundamental right. #WomensSuffrage #EqualRights #Democracy
