I knew that TECH WEEK by a16z would be a challenge with its huge distances, so I prepped in advance and booked events close to each other. Yesterday, I attended a great panel on pitching, capital, and the realities of building a startup. One key takeaway was the importance of pitching big, ambitious ideas. Instead of focusing too much on the details or validation early on, that’s important to have and to lead with the bigger vision — the long-term impact and potential your idea can achieve. People invest in big dreams, and we should feel confident presenting that vision from the start. Also I love the part of conversation around capital. It’s not just about raising money; it’s about building something sustainable and scalable. It’s critical to frame your business in terms of growth and longevity. Capital isn’t just about getting to the next step — it’s about creating a solid foundation for future success. Another major insight was about the pipeline. When you’re in the world of startups, you have to understand that fundraising is an ongoing process. It doesn’t stop after the first round, and the journey continues until you reach a successful exit. Being prepared for this constant momentum is key to surviving and thriving in the startup world. Raising capital is a journey, having to meet new people and being vulnerable sharing your dreams and ambitions, usually to have it torn apart. Which at first destroyed me, luckily, with every person I met, I got to see my vision get more and more refined. 🌟 When I started FomoCollabs last year in August 2023, my original idea has since evolved into an almost entirely different set of solutions for the same problems. Now, it’s truly a diamond in the rough. The feedback from mentors, future customers, and fellow entrepreneurs has been invaluable in shaping FomoCollabs into a better product. It’s incredible how many people, whether they’re in the same boat or have already been through it, are eager to help out. The entrepreneurial community is all about collaboration and generosity. I’m still on the hunt for the right investment to take FomoCollabs to the next level, but I’m super grateful for the amazing entrepreneurs around me who have been there and are helping me find my way.
