Speeding up the integration of sensing and perception into our robotics platforms at Smart Mechatronics And RoboTics (SMART) Research Group towards autonomous navigation. One of the strategic research lines for the integration process is #mapping systems and the video shows the first attempt to map Saxion University of Applied Sciences. We are working on the mapping systems (Seyed Hojat Mirtajadini Nils Rublein Henk Kortier Chandan Kumar RAJENDRA Benjamin van Manen) via several projects managed by Henri Huisman, Maaike Hillerström, Amin Z., Clint Scholten and the team leader Gerdine Meijer. Many assignments for students are currently available for #mapping (#SLAM), #localization, vehicle/robot positioning systems and sensor configuration & data collection.

Our comprehensive survey on parallel-continuum robots has been published in IEEE Transactions on Robotics! This survey was led by Sven Lilge and Jessica Burgner-Kahrs at the University of Toronto Robotics Institute in collaboration with Jake A. Childs and Caleb Rucker from the REACH Lab at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Kefei Wen from The University of British Columbia, and Kathrin Gaa (née Nuelle) from the Institute of Mechatronic Systems at Leibniz Universität Hannover. Parallel-continuum robots uniquely blend the advantages of both parallel and continuum robotics. They offer a balance between the flexibility and slenderness of continuum robots and the high precision and strength of rigid-link parallel robots. These properties are particularly beneficial in medical and industrial applications, where increased strength and precision are required alongside the dexterity of continuum robots. This survey delves into their classification, design, modeling, and potential applications, bridging knowledge between parallel and continuum robotics and providing entry points for further research.
