Around half the population will be taking a UK holiday or short break this summer, according to a survey by Visit Britain. The South West and North West of England, London, Scotland, Yorkshire and Wales are the most popular destinations. Unsurprisingly, with all these extra vehicles on the road, the number of vehicle breakdowns and collisions also increases, adding to congestion and slowing the traffic flow. But as motorists, some steps can be taken to make the holiday driving experience safer and smoother for all. During last year's annual professional driver survey, we found some interesting insights in relation to willingness or unwillingness to waiting in line. Although a large percentage of professional drivers appear to not like self-checkout, they also don’t like standing in lines. PSA: Be careful out there on the roads! Summer tends to be a more likely time for car collisions for several reasons: 1. Increased Traffic Volume: More vehicles are on the road because of vacations, road trips and tourism, which can lead to higher accident rates. 2. Teen Drivers: With schools out, more teenage drivers —statistically more prone to accidents — are on the road. Of course, there are more causes.
