The future is now
During a panel at SXSW Hans Schafer, SVP of Global Touring, and Jon Lieberberg of Baron Management discussed the growth of live music and how cultural shifts are expanding global audiences, particularly with Latin artists such as Kali Uchis, Bad Bunny and Los Bukis. "When Los Bukis reached a successful stadium tour, others came too, and now we see more Latin artists doing stadium tours and shows.” — Schafer, on the beginning of Latin acts doing US stadium shows for the first time in music history.

A fragment of ‘lost’ music found in the pages of Scotland’s first full-length printed book is providing clues to what music sounded like five centuries ago. Scholars from Edinburgh College of Art and KU Leuven in Belgium have been investigating the origins of the musical score – which contains only 55 notes – to cast new light on music from pre-Reformation Scotland in the early sixteenth-century. Researchers say the tantalising discovery is a rare example of music from Scottish religious institutions 500 years ago, and is the only piece which survives from the northeast of Scotland from this period. New article published! Some three years after my previous article on folia grounds in English sources, my follow-up article has been published in the journal Early Music. This one is about popular ballads based on ‘Farinel’s Ground’ written during some of the most turbulent years in British history, which is also reflected by some very conscious changes to the text, from ‘Let Tories guard the King, let Whigs in Halters swing’ in 1682 and 1684 to ‘Let Patriots guard the Throne, let Papists all go down’ in 1689! The article can be accessed here, but let me know if you'd like the freely accessible link: https://lnkd.in/ess9wMjG
