Copernicus Demonstrators - Lot 1 is a project funded by EUSPA - EU Agency for the Space Programme to analyze and evaluate the technical feasibility of five innovative proof of concepts and demonstrate technically the selected proof of concepts using Copernicus data and services, in order to show the benefits of such data and services in user’s operational environment. OHB Digital Services has been commissioned to lead the project, which is executed in two phases: Phase 1 involves the technical feasibility assessment of five Proof of Concepts, while Phase 2 focusses on the development and technical implementation of three selected concepts.   Within the framework of the Copernicus Demonstrators Lot1 project under the Contract EUSPA/OP/03/22/LOT1, OHB Digital Services is to subcontract 20% of the total project budget to support the technical demonstration of three selected POCs in Phase 2 led by S[&]T Waterjade LuxSpace   OHB Digital Services hereby invites interested economic operators to submit a tender for one or more of the subcontracting tasks. Next week I'm attending the NewSpace Economy Congress in Barcelona and presenting the panel “Space as a Catalyst for Regional Cooperation” with Bärbel Deisting, representing the space cluster in Bavaria bavAIRia e.V., Maria Galindo Garcia-Delgado, Secretary for Digital Policy at the Government of Catalonia, Andrea Resca, representing the Strategic Aerospace Forum of the Emilia-Romagna Region in Italy, Roya Ayazi, Secretary General of Nereus, and a representative of the Government of Scotland.   This panel will explore the role that regions can play in shaping EU and Member States space policies, their contributions to developing the NewSpace sector within their territories, and how the space industry can promote economic and social growth in these regions. #NewSpace24 #NewSpace 

It was great being able to share with the community more about our expanding programs at the National Space Industry Hub with the support of Investment NSW, whilst hearing from amazing innovators and entrepreneurs Chris Shaw and Andrew Glynn! Key insights from me from the discussion included: 1. The power of partnerships is key to a business being able to move and grow quickly. The best partnerships are built from there being a "DNA match" first. 2. Andrew crystallising what they look for in partnerships - companies who knew their value proposition really well, know what they are good at and what they aren't, and are offering something truly unique. 3. Dual use approach to the business is critical to the business being able to weather the complex and often slow sales cycles, with often a need to focus on where the need is most. 4. It is critical to focus on the application and the problem being solved rather than the technology solution itself. This includes both emphasising your dual use technology benefits to specific applications whether increased productivity in mining or resilience in defence, whilst not being afraid to push back against old and outdated standards when there are better ways to deliver customer's needs. During his participation at the Paris Air Forum, MaiaSpace CEO Yohann Leroy discussed the mini-launcher market alongside Jörn Spurmann, Chief Commercial Officer at Rocket Factory Augsburg - RFA, Raúl Verdú, Chief Business Development Officer at PLD Space and Toni Tolker-Nielsen, Director of Space Transportation at European Space Agency - ESA. This discussion allowed us to outline the competitive landscape of the mini-launcher market and to highlight the benefits reusability brings in the economics of a mini launcher developed with private money, namely competitive access to a wider market. This wider access leads to higher cadence, hence easier amortization of non-recurring costs, faster recurring costs reduction, more launch opportunities, and better resilience. To be successful, we need also to go fast, foster a more offensive risk culture, accepting failures as opportunities to learn, accelerate, and ultimately reduce costs. COPS to Paris (vlog part 2) - seeing a new challenge on the Eiffel Tower This fall, I am having the time of my life, away as guest professor at the Institut Langevin - Ondes et images at the ESPCI Paris - PSL in Paris. In this episode, our "young hero" (just kidding ;-) cannot discern the Institute from the Eiffel Tower.
