I’ve been thinking about the recent disparity between the level of #cybersecurity startup funding in the USA and Europe. While you could argue that this reflects the market dynamics of #startups in these regions, the systemic and cultural issues are at play here. We all know that the USA is the hub for VC activity, and it’s helped out security startups, like Sequoia Capital’s heavy investment in Eye Security. We’ve also got to think about the cautionary outlook on VC funding from a European perspective and the stringent regulations across the EU. Let’s hope cross-border initiatives such as the Digital Europe Programme can bring an end to this difference. #startuplife

I just read that #CyberTech funding surged by 17% YoY in H1 2024, with average deal sizes climbing to $27.7M as investors seem to be committing to startups in this sector. Wiz picked up the largest paycheck of 2024 so far with a $1Bn Series E round, pushing their valuation to $12Bn. This caps off a strong year so far with growing investor demand for innovative security solutions and renewed confidence in the #cybersecurity space. Although there are fewer deals, investors are taking the leap and writing large numbers in their chequebooks. The CyberTech sector is seeing bigger investments as the innovative underdogs are receiving the backing they need to compete with the big players. #startupfunding #cloudsecurity

While there is still a lot of aggregate capital in the startup space vying for influence across varying sectors, the overall dealmaking has declined as further corporate consolidations fill up the agendas of participating firms. Interest traits may affect this, but I believe the trends can be tied more closely to other private equity market conditions as many firms are still waiting to see how existing investments pan out. For many startups, this means that while capital is still present, it will still be very difficult to attract. #Cybersecurity #Innovation #CISO https://lnkd.in/ghzczb_q
