Healthcare workers thinking about setting up a business face an important decision: 👤 to found or to co-found 👥️ Below are some of the main pros and cons. Going solo: ✅️ quicker decisions and clear direction ✅️ retain full equity (until you raise investment) ✅️ consistent approach across the business ⛔️ risk of tunnel-vision ⛔️ higher risk of burn out ⛔️ can be a lonely experience Partnering up: ✅️ breadth of skills and experience ✅️ divide and conquer the workload ✅️ support each other ⛔️ risk of disagreement or conflict ⛔️ higher risk of over-analysis ⛔️ equity is divided by number of people Of course, there's no right or wrong way to do it. If you're considering starting a business it's worth thinking about how your personality fits with these pros and cons. For me, building a business alone wouldn't work and joining up with my good friend Sabrina Ahmed was definitely the right decision! What are your thoughts about going it alone or finding a co-founder❓️ Monitree NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme Arise Innovation Hubs Health Tech Enterprise #HealthTech #NHSWorkforce #HealthInnovations

Is it a bad thing if profit comes first in your business? I’ve been reading a book recently how profit should come first. Always. But I think often there is a narrative that profit shouldn’t come first. That we need to be running altruistic, ESG led businesses. But I’m not sure thats genuine? If your profit comes first, it means everyone is fed, everyone is happy and no one is scared for their future. It’s how you build a sustainable business and team? I’d argue that making a profit in a business is a key foundation to building engagement and a healthy culture. As Founders, we want to run fabulous businesses that change the world. But all said and done, that’s short lived if they aren’t also profitable? So why do we hide it? Is it “icky?” Or is it disingenuous to say that we’re here to make a profit, because that’s what keeps our business moving? As we start to build a team out at Talentloop, should we be open that we’re here to make a profit? Or does it set the wrong tone? I’m actually thinking about making it one of our values, to be transparent and authentic! What do you think? How much do you share with your team about your financials? #founder #growth #values #culture

While it can seem impossible to compete with large corporations that offer hefty benefits packages, SMBs can still compete for top talent by crafting strategic, cost-effective programs that resonate with their workforce: https://bit.ly/3AhziO4 #benefits #benefitspackage #employeebenefits #smallbusiness #entrepreneur #employeehealth #openenrollment

Did you know that workers can actually own their own businesses? Also did you know that if you run a business you can build a stable and sustainable business by organizing around Marxist principles? So many here on LinkedIn bemoan worker alienation and enshitification as though our capitalist system were broken, but what if I told you that these were inherent in the design of capitalist systems? If you don't like that then do something different. https://lnkd.in/gVag79ew

The super amenity is #empowering people! Empowered people unlock a strong tax base, a vibrant downtown, occupied buildings, an engaged and innovative workforce... it unleashes magic! To empower people, they need #mentorship and #structure. A key part of Innovation Collective, is that we provide weekend retreats called Story Summits and once a year in each community we do a HUGE festival called, #ThinkBig. At these experiences, a team called The Fellows shows up to give of their expertise and time. They share the lessons of life and business. They are legendary business leaders who are willing to travel across the world to mentor people in communities who have big dreams and need a boost... empowerment. The stories, the Q and A, the walks after, the laughs, the confidence it provides is stunning. And yes... these little things improve the tax base, they occupy high rises, they unleash magic. From agtech innovators to former CEO of Beats by Dre... we show up because we believe in people. #Mentorship #InnovationCollective #Community #EconomicDevelopment (Photo below is of a team of Fellows on a call preparing for a Think Big Festival in #VictoriaTexas where we have partnered with the local university and business leaders to empower the community to become creators and entrepreneurs.)
