It's easy to overlook a piece of art when surrounded by many other artworks, especially when it's this small! 🧐 This red-figure squat oil flask (lekythos) decorated with a swan is one of those pieces. It's these types of pieces where you have to ask yourself, "Why is it so small? Did they really only put oil in this thing? And what's the significance of the swan?" Ask these questions! Engage with the art and start the conversation, maybe you'll get new insight. 😉🦢 Attica, Greece; Classical period, ca. 450-400 BCE Ceramic vessel Tampa Museum of Art, Joseph Veach Noble Collection, 1986.082

Fubon Art Museum in Taipei is for rich folks Someone commented on the cable report aired the morning of June 4, 2024 regarding the newly-opened Fubon Art Museum in Taipei that the Monet exhibit being pathetic in scope. The report exposes the admission of NT$1,200 charged by said art gallery, as does the attached report of June 3, 2024, that is far more expensive than that at the most famous art galleries globally. The gallery in Taipei even sells cookies for NT$3,500. Another Taiwanese said in a FB post that the Fubon gallery is for rich folks. The spokeswoman for the gallery says the building is designed by famous architects for a princely sum and the admission price is based on the user-pays principle. The simple fact is that the greatest artist ever--Mother Nature--exhibits her masterpieces across the world for free, including the 4 shown in southern Thailand and on the west coast of Canada. Why pay to see manmade artworks that are ho-hum in comparison? #FubonArtMuseumInTaipeiIsForRichFolks https://lnkd.in/g6DzaZvUu

How deep rooted mathematics is in these models? It's fascinating to see how 3 different A.I. have 3 different styles(ummm.... personalities). Even if trained on the same datasets, but with different seeds, models can have completely different personas. A simple yet powerful example of chaos theory(butterfly effect) in computer science. #AI #models #chaostheory #butterflyeffect #machinelearning #artificial #intelligence #physics #mathematics

Happy pub date to Rafael Schacter! "Monumental Graffiti" is a gorgeous new art book that we're proud to publish. What is graffiti—vandalism, ornament, art? What if, rather than any of those things, we thought of graffiti as a monument? How would that change our understanding of graffiti, and, in turn, our understanding of monument? In Monumental Graffiti, curator and anthropologist Rafael Schacter focuses on the material, communicative, and contextual aspects of these two forms of material culture to provide a timely perspective on public art, citizenship, and the city today. He applies monument as a lens to understand graffiti and graffiti as a lens to comprehend monument, challenging us to consider what the appropriate monument for our contemporary world could be. https://lnkd.in/eMZZ3dvh
