🌍 '𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄' 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲 It’s a promise that requires real collaboration—not just between construction companies and Royal Schiphol Group on individual projects, which we’re already accustomed to. This goes deeper, aiming to deliver the experience that Schiphol’s customers genuinely desire. Achieving this calls for a profound understanding of the needs of the customer’s customer, and insight into Schiphol’s broader ambitions and goals. During Nationale Klimaatweek, one question took centre stage: how can we work together to make the airport more sustainable? With that purpose, our CEO Ruud Joosten, Ton Hillen, and Gerald Paalman joined Schiphol’s CEO, Pieter van Oord, at the table by his invitation. Under the guidance of Margot Ribberink and surrounded by key stakeholders, they tackled the pressing sustainability challenges and discussed tangible steps forward. Steps our colleagues at BAM Infra Nederland, BAM Bouw en Techniek, and BAM Energie & Water take every day. #Sustainability #NationaleKlimaatweek

Marlborough Airport has, alongside Wellington Airport, won the Sustainability Initiative of the Year award for their joint bid to host New Zealand’s first all-electric aircraft with Air New Zealand. The win came at the annual NZ Airports Hui in Hamilton, a conference recognising excellence in achievements for airports and supporting industries. Bidding for this trial attracted strong interest from most airports across New Zealand. Both Wellington and Marlborough airports share Air New Zealand’s ambition to accelerate the change needed to decarbonise aviation, while keeping New Zealanders connected. This trial route is the first major step in lowering emissions for domestic aviation to help meet New Zealand’s international targets. Wellington Airport will be the home base of Air New Zealand’s first next-generation aircraft, BETA's ALIA CTOL, while Marlborough Airport will also establish charging infrastructure to power the aircraft for the return journey. From 2026, this route will initially operate as a cargo-only service between the North and South Islands for New Zealand Post. This year, Marlborough Airport is investing in infrastructure upgrades needed for the electric aircraft trial alongside local partners such as Marlborough Lines. Other sustainability initiatives underway include waste reduction from terminal operations, an investigation of a solar farm and plans for expanding greenspace near the terminal. 📸: Marlborough’s Steve Holtum and Wellington Airport’s Sustainability Manager Georgina Blane accepted the joint sustainability award at the Hobbiton-themed NZ Airports Hui in Hamilton.

When will all buildings in Slovakia be green? Is our construction industry ready for new innovative solutions? And will we drive electric cars in our companies? These topics were also discussed last week at the Televízia TA3 conference called "Slovakia without Smoke", which we also attended. Sustainability in the construction sector, electromobility, measures to mitigate climate change, innovations that are necessary in this field and the preparedness of the whole sector are crucial not only for the construction industry and our business, but for the whole society. For #DYNAMIK, sustainability principles are an integral part of our work. We believe that a responsible approach is what together we can contribute to positive change. Programmed to succeed: Taking cues from leadership in design ESG responsibility in the airport sector is not a new concern, as many airports have been adhering to sustainability programs for nearly three decades. Perhaps the best known program – the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, which provides a framework for healthy, highly-efficient and cost-saving green buildings to mitigate their ecological footprint by using renewable energy and reducing emissions and energy consumption – was founded in 1998 by the US Green Building Council as an inspiration for American cities and communities. Today LEED has grown to become the world's most widely used green building rating system. Read how the LEED design build approach helped San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to go platinum. The BEUMER Group Airport Report caught up with Kristin Allen, the Program Manager of the ongoing Reconstruction Program at SFO, which is responsible for the redevelopment and future maintenance of three terminals. Elevating Operational Efficiency and Environmental Quality with the WILSON Project! 🌍🏢 We are excited to introduce our fifth use-case, focusing on the nexus of risk, resilience and biodiversity in Italy. Key Partners: Agenzia del Demanio, RINA This large-scale pilot aims to transition the operational framework of the entire site from a "standard" to an "advanced" approach. By integrating digital technologies, this use-case will enhance energy optimization and address critical aspects like carbon footprint reduction and environmental quality. This pilot not only addresses current operational challenges but also lays the foundation for more sustainable and resilient building management strategies. Stay tuned for more updates on how WILSON continues to drive innovation, sustainability, and resilience across the built environment. #WILSONProject #PredictiveMaintenance #DataManagement #Built4People #HorizonEurope #HADEA #EuropeanCommission

Last Tuesday, our colleagues Hinkelien Schreuder and Marieke Siero attended the event “#Duurzaam #Doorpakken” organized by Royal BAM Group and Royal Schiphol Group. A few take aways: 🎯 Sustainable construction should be the standard, not the exception. Several projects were showcased with impressive examples where sustainability is already the norm. 📈 Utilizing data and sensors is crucial for better monitoring of assets and extending their operational life. 🤼 It’s okay to feel uncomfortable. Embrace the discomfort and engage in discussions about opportunities. Think creatively and outside the box. Sustainability also means taking care of your people. As you head into the weekend, consider the following: 💡 What do you need to practice sustainable behavior (even more)? ☕ Who could you discuss this with? Initiate a coffee chat. 💫 What action will you take on Monday in your work context? LET’S CHANGE THE SYSTEM. #duurzaamheid #collaboration #sustainability
