Royal Free Charity’s Post

People living with #HIV are reducing their risk of falls thanks to a project we’ve funded for the Royal Free London’s Ian Charleson Day Centre (ICDC). The uses a digital screening tool to determine their range of mobility and fall risk. This means improving referrals for the ICDC frailty service and overall long-term health outcomes for people living with HIV. Jessica Pinto, nurse practitioner, said: “It's something that takes a minute and it makes a whole difference. It's very straightforward, and the results are also very clear and easy to understand.” Dr Howell Jones said: “The earlier that we introduce interventions for frailty, the better chance that we're going to improve quality of life, reverse frailty and reduce falls, hospital admissions, length of stay and mortality.” As a result of the screening, the ICDC has doubled the number of frailty clinics offered from once to twice a month. The service has also seen a significant drop in the numbers of patients not showing up for their appointments. 🗞️ Head to https://lnkd.in/e3vuzntG to donate or find out more about the mobility testing device that is helping people living with HIV. #RoyalFreeCharity #WorldAIDSDay2024 #StopHIVTogether #ICDC Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust
