Rodenbach's brand-new discovery tour teases all senses! One of the first breweries in Flandres to develop professional beer tourism back in 2001, Rodenbach Brewery, introduces a brand new guided tour. A tour in which visitors immerse in the wondrous world of Flemish red-brown beer and all senses are teased. Containing 294 oak casks, or 'foeders', the cellars are what make the brewery unique. This is the place where the months-, or even years-, long maturing process of the Rodenbach beers takes place. This unique maturing process acts as a red line throughout this unique tour. Mixing beers from various foeders containing young beer results in different types of beer. Highlight of the tour is the possibility for visitors to 'Blend your own Rodenbach'. An experience which allows visitors to compose their own Rodenbach blend and really bring the essence of beer brewing home to the beer afficionado. Curious to learn more about Rodenbach? 🍺 From the heart of Austria to the glasses of the world: 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗿? Many people are not aware that the term "lager beer" originates from the German word for cool storage, referring to beer matured in cellars - a method introduced by a Viennese master brewer! In the 19th century, the Viennese master brewer Anton Dreher changed the art of brewing. By combining brewing techniques and using pale malt, he created the Viennese Lager - a beer with a characteristic amber colour and a balanced, malty, and hoppy taste. This new beer was clearly different from the dark beers that dominated at the time and set new standards in terms of quality and flavour. Wiener Lager spread rapidly and laid the foundations for many of today's popular beer styles, including Münchner Helles and even Pilsner. Its introduction marked an important point in the history of beer and made Vienna a centre of international brewing. The export success of Anton Dreher's brewery contributed to the worldwide popularity of pale lager beers. Even today, the Viennese Lager is still of great importance. Craft breweries all over the world are drawing on the traditional recipes and reinterpreting them. Its harmonious profile makes it the ideal accompaniment for a variety of dishes and occasions. __________________________ Enjoyed this Post? How does a Brewing Technologist at Swinkels approach taste, process and product? We spoke with five of them from all over the world: while their passion for beer unites them, they also emphasize that each brewery is unique. 🇳🇱 Tim: "In Lieshout, we produce mostly lager beer, while our other breweries that we support typically make craft and specialty beers. This creates process variations which makes my work highly varied." 🇨🇺 Michiel: "In Cuba we work in Swinkels' youngest brewery, which gives us the chance to improve every day." 🇳🇱 Mattia: "Uiltje is one of the breweries within Swinkels that does not pasteurize its beers. This makes our beer a living product, which means that we have to take extra care to ensure that it remains stable." 🇪🇹 Melese: "Due to the scarcity of materials and the varying quality of raw materials, my focus is on properly managing recipe changes to ensure constant quality and that taste remains the same. We have this very well under control." 🇧🇪 Stijn: "At Palm and Rodenbach we make very specific and highly complex types of beer. That's how we distinguish ourselves." Swipe ➡️ to learn more about each brewery and the people that work with passion on our products, to ensure consistent quality beers and drinks for people all over the world to enjoy. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁? Today is a very important date for beer lovers - it's German Beer Day! On April 23rd 1516 the famous purity law (aka "Reinheitsgebot") was issued. With that the state of Bavaria decreed how beer has to be brewed and regulated purity. Originally only water, barley and hops were allowed, within the centuries several modifications applied, especially regarding other types of malted grain. Numerous types of beers are nowadays served in Germany and all around the world. In addition to microwave-assisted sample preparation for element analysis of the basic ingredients, various analytical methods and measures ensure top quality of the golden brew regardless whether coming from big industrial producers or small local craft breweries. At the Anton Paar headquarters in Austria we run our own Restaurant with craft brewery - the perfect spot to see several of our measuring instruments for quality control at work. If you have the chance, stop by and enjoy one of our brewed delicacies - not only on German Beer Day! 🍻 #analyticalchemistry #elementanalysis #craftbeer #Sudhaus #AntonPaar

Carlsberg and Brooklyn Brewery launch first ever beer with drought-resistant fonio grain instead of barley 🌾🍻 To spotlight the ancient West African grain, fonio, and its untapped brewing potential, Carlsberg has created a brand-new type of beer that uses only fonio grains, without the use of any barley or bittering hops. The grain, which has thrived in West Africa for over 5,000 years and is widely used in African cooking, can survive in poor soils and is drought-resistant. The new Fonio beer was brewed in collaboration with Brooklyn Brewery as part of its ‘Brewing for Impact’ campaign. The new brew demonstrates what can be achieved when new brewing techniques and ingredients meet curiosity, a mindset that has been at the forefront of everything Carlsberg has done since it opened the brewery doors in 1874. “Fonio is an amazing West African grain but it presented several technical challenges for us to learn from and overcome - especially as there are no recipes for a beer like this. However, the extremely clean, crisp beer we’ve made is sure to set curious minds ablaze as we continue to test the potential of fonio in brewing and beyond,” says Zoran Gojkovic, Director of Brewing Science & Technology, Carlsberg Research Lab. 2024: Brooklyn Voted Sixpoint Brewery Best Brewery! 🍻 "Founded more than two decades ago in Red Hook, Sixpoint Brewery is one of Brooklyn’s premier hometown breweries. Sixpoint’s foundational principle is “Mad Science,” and the brewery is dedicated to using established scientific principles and guidelines to experiment with their beers to create new and unique brews! They don’t set out to create the same kinds of beers everyone else has – but to push the boundaries of what a great beer can be. Over the past 20 years, Sixpoint has created dozens of beers — from their year-round pilsners and pale ales to seasonal drinks like the Bklyn Sunny Citrus Lager. And you can’t overlook their small batch series — with experimental brews like the Subway Series Blueberry Sour or the Sick Burn Stout, which is brewed with chili peppers. Sixpoint’s beers are available all over the city, but the best way to enjoy them is at one of their two taprooms in Brooklyn and Manhattan." Source: https://lnkd.in/gt9HWPHN
