If public bodies are going to formulate and publish opinions then the least they can do is accurately report on the peer reviewed science.

I’m happy to share our latest white paper, "Guiding transdisciplinary synthesis processes for social-ecological policy decisions", a result of our work in the Biota Synthesis project. In this study, we explore how interdisciplinary synthesis research can overcome challenges in connecting science and public policy on socio-ecological issues. We present key insights, such as: ✅ Flexibility in collaborative dynamics; ✅ Creation of platforms to share non-academic outputs; ✅ Promoting horizontal interactions between science and policy. This is a true milestone. There is a nice explainer, and a link to the paper (authored by a 94 yr old!). The significance for biodiversity science is enormous. And, as COP16 approaches, we are increasingly aware we need ALL the tools we can get.
