Make sure you stand perpendicular to the crank and assume a power stance to shift weight through the trunk and legs. Clear any debris and use two hands to crank. When coupling and uncoupling hoses, protect your shoulders and upper back from injury. Face the connection from a square position with feet planted firmly on the ground. Shorter drivers may require something to step on so they are square with the plug. Learn more about safety in Manitoba’s trucking industry by visiting our website www.rpmsafety.ca #MBtrucking #Safety

Watch your step! Flatbed truckers who tarp loads often have to work at heights. Furthermore, some loads, like the one in the picture, are dangerous walking surfaces. Carriers and shippers should have systems in place to help drivers and anyone else involved in tarping. Falling is generally the worst hazard involved and having drivers do this alone just off your property isn't right. There are ways to mitigate the risks. Fall protection - with a recovery plan - is common, and tarping machines are increasing in popularity, too. --- #safety #trucking #truckingsafety Image source: my own from my time as a flatbed trucker.

Safety Tip #15: Don’t Push Your Luck (or Your Lift Truck)! • Fork tips are for lifting, not prying. Don’t use them as a lever for heavy loads. • Pushing or pulling loads with forks or tilt cylinder is a recipe for disaster. • Resist the urge to overload! Never exceed the weight capacity of your lift truck or attachments. • Know your limits! Check the weight capacity before every lift and avoid tipping hazards. #Yale #LiftTruckSafety #TipoftheDay
