The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DCGA) has recognized the importance of ground handling staff at airports and acknowledged that ground handlers are a critical element of the airport ecosystem. Furthermore, the government body has prescribed a framework of measures to ensure safer ground handling operations that enhance the quality of services rendered in safety-sensitive functions across Indian airports. Our CEO, Sanjay Gupta, spoke with the Hindustan Times on how indispensable these #DGCA measures are for maintaining India’s #aviation growth trajectory while prioritizing safety. I was thrilled to hear the US Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration announcement about the Biden-Harris administration’s $289M investment into 129 airports across the U.S. Airports are a vital part of this country’s infrastructure, and U.S. airports have fallen behind other countries. In the most recent American Society of Civil Engineers’ “Infrastructure Report Card,” U.S. airports received an abysmal D+, and at a time when record numbers of passengers are taking to the skies (recently, TSA screened 3.1M passengers in just one day), we have to invest in modernizing and expanding facilities, making safety upgrades, and enhancing sustainability. Nobody knows that better than McKissack & McKissack’s Lead Aviation Project Executive, Sergio Steve Curro, who has been working diligently with our aviation clients to improve passenger experience and safety. I’m glad the US is investing in our airports and though we have a long way to go, this is a great first step. SUSTAINABILITY: Federal Aviation Administration awards US$2.5m to Ontario International Airport to increase #sustainability The money is through FAA’s Voluntary Airport Low-Emission (#VALE) Program and will be used to replace 22 pre-conditioned air (PCA) units – external heating, cooling and dehumidifying devices that control temperatures and keep jetways and #planes comfortable when #aircraft are parked at the gate. Alan Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority board of commissioners, said, “We are deeply appreciative to the FAA and to Congresswoman Norma Torres, who has played such a critical role in securing funding for ONT as we meet the needs of this dynamic region we serve. The VALE Program funding will allow us to replace older PCA units with state-of-the-art, high energy-efficient models that reduce #emissions and improve air quality.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ejNMnwM5 #Aviation #Airlines #Airports #Passengers #Transportation #Technology #AviationIndustry #AirportDesign #Travel #Technology #PTExpoConf #ukimediaevents
