For angles less than 45°, use a master link or other connecting hardware to maintain stability. Proper Alignment: Hooks should always align with the line of lift to avoid side stress and deformation. 4. Removal Criteria and Compliance Remove hooks from service immediately if you notice: Cracks, gouges, or nicks in the body. Missing or damaged locking devices. Wear exceeding 8% in critical areas like the eye or saddle. Throat opening or twisting beyond safe limits. Evidence of welding repairs (strictly prohibited as per IS standards) Non-functional swivel bearings or excessive wear in pins and bolts. Safety in every lift is crucial. Proper hook use, regular inspections, and adherence to safety standards prevent accidents and boost efficiency.
