We’re thrilled to announce the success of a new partnership between Biffa, Community Shop, and ISS, designed to create opportunities and make a real difference in people’s lives. Through this collaboration, members of our award-winning social enterprise Community Shop are being supported back into employment. Participating in the pilot of the Progress Academy, ISS facilitated the employment part of the programme, helping members build skills and confidence to re-enter the workplace. For me, something qualifies as passion, only when the activity accrues to some form of financial gain or wealth. I as a person, do not feel passionate about something, unless the activity has an appreciation potential for my family’s wealth, happiness, and wellbeing. But that’s me. I strongly feel it doesn't have to be the same for everyone. For example, consider my mother and my mother-in-law. Two excellent individuals from whom I draw immense inspiration. Their presence provides a calm and coherence to their families. They have no LinkedIn certifications to boost about. They are not part of the 70-hour-a-week workforce. They are also not the Naval Ravikants or Charlie Mungers of the world, and yet when we get up in the morning, their presence acts as the most serene impact on our lives. Thus, I feel the concept of the confluence of passion, family’s well-being, and income/wealth is not important. More importantly, there should be a confluence of passion (internal happiness) and family’s well-being, and the income/wealth equation should be decided by the individuals themselves.

Can we hold both to be true? Many of us are sad or disappointed in the country today. Many of us are happy and satisfied for the results of the election. Many of us are tired. Many of us want the best for ourselves, our neighbors, our communities, our friends. We all have different identities, passions, values, perspectives: And what is true in finding our way as a balanced country: Being curious about each other, Supporting each other: even in the times of “divided” politics, Neighbor to neighbor: Person to person. Acknowledge where you are. Be OK with sharing and supporting the emotions that you feel. Find support with those that you can trust. Continue the work for excellence. And give to each other the gift of curiosity. Perhaps this time around can we craft opportunities together. Grateful for the opportunities for discourse. In our journey toward achieving professional and personal goals, we sometimes encounter individuals or situations that surprise us and redefine our perspectives. During my time in the military and various job roles post-service, I've come to value these unexpected interactions immensely. They can often provide insights and opportunities that were previously overlooked. In striving for financial freedom and helping others achieve their dreams, these surprises have often acted as pivotal moments of learning and growth.
