Unanimous resolution to grant planning permission and listed building consent for the refurbishment and change of use of the Grade II listed Silwood Park in Ascot - a vision led by Beechcroft Developments Ltd & NSS IV (Investments) Ltd. The scheme will transform the Grade II listed manor house and its historic stables. The listed building will be sensitively reimagined for 21 apartments alongside 14 new dwellings on the grounds, and the original lodge will be refurbished for modern living. The plans include improved access, parking, and landscaping, creating a sensitive balance between the site’s heritage and its future as a residential community. Montagu Evans provided heritage advice for the Applicant, led by Dr Timur Tatlioglu and Helen Marrison. Timur, Partner and Head of Historic Environment and Townscape, added, “Historic country houses are a type of asset that are increasingly requiring radical yet sensitive solutions to secure their long-term conservation. In this case, the conversion of Silwood Park for 21 apartments was informed by our scholarly approach to understanding the significance of the listed building. We then assisted the local authority through design development to balance the inevitable harm associated with converting the building with the demonstrable heritage benefits that will be delivered by the proposals. Following Caversham Park in Reading, this is the second major permission of the year where we have worked with Beechcroft to secure the future of a listed country house.” Congratulations to the project team. #MEHEAT #Ascot #Development #Heritage #PlanningPermission #ListedBuilding

📣 Stansgate Planning achieved planning permission for nine houses in the Green Belt near to Alvechurch. Six houses derived from the change of use of historic brick barns, a non-designated heritage asset. Three houses were new build and replaced several modern farm buildings of no historic interest. A fall-back position involved Class Q Prior Approval for change of use of the modern barns to dwellinghouses. 👏

It was great to hear from some of the titans of San Diego's building industry at the Building Industry Association of San Diego (BIA) Meet The Builders event at the Coaster Room / Belmont Park last week. The discussion covered the many challenges of building in different jurisdictions. The consensus was it's difficult everywhere, yet the good news is the City of San Diego got relatively high marks due to the zoning changes they've made over the last several years. We value our membership in the BIA—the organization exists to represent the many companies that plan, design and build the many places where San Diegans live, work and play. #BuildingIndustry #SanDiego #BIA #MeetTheBuilders #ConstructionChallenges #ZoningChanges #UrbanDevelopment #CityPlanning #CommunityBuilding #SanDiegoBuilders #IndustryInsights

Modular housing development has long been a fringe part of the U.S. market. Now, the country’s largest apartment operator is trying to change that. Greystar Real Estate Partners on Monday is opening a six-building modular apartment complex, complete with a gym, amphitheater and bocce courts. It is Greystar’s first U.S. project assembled using this alternative construction method, aiming to combat the chronic delays of traditional developments.
