"When you’re running a marathon, you’re doing it for yourself. It’s a personal goal, an ambition, and a personal milestone you want to achieve. Maybe you’re in it for the medal, or to prove something to yourself, to increase your fitness level, or to push the boundaries of what you can achieve. Running a marathon or half-marathon is a huge accomplishment, and undoubtedly something to be proud of. But what I don’t think people understand about entrepreneurship, especially in biotech, is that we’re not doing this for us. We’re doing this because we believe so strongly in what we’ve created – we believe in the unmet need, and in the potential our invention holds to help so many people." 💡 Breaking the Mold: The Disruptive Doctors Conference 💡 What if doctors could be more than just healers? What if we could also be innovators, entrepreneurs, and trailblazers? That’s the mindset we embraced at the Disruptive Doctors Conference. This wasn’t just another medical conference—it was a movement. We challenged the status quo, exploring how doctors can step outside traditional boundaries and venture into entrepreneurship. It’s time to think beyond the clinic, to innovate, and to create solutions that can change the world. I was lucky to attend the conference held 2 weeks ago—thank you, Disruptive Doctors! Doctors, it’s time to disrupt, innovate, and lead! 🚀 #DisruptiveDoctors #Entrepreneurship #InnovationInHealthcare #ThinkOutsideTheBox #HealthcareLeadership

How to think about equity, agreements, etc ✏️🗒️ ❓How to handle potential conflicts or situations that arise when the founders are not in agreement? ⚡️ ❓How well do I know myself and can my biggest strengths- when the volume is turned up too much- become really challenging for someone else? 😬😳😁 Exciting talks with you guys! 🤩Thank you for asking me, Jessica Mansourati! #founder #entrepreneurship #challenge

What does it take to Become a Game Changer in the world of #genomics, #biodata, and beyond? 🤔 That was the question we explored in the first session of #StartupSchool 5, with the help of the brilliant Jason Mellad, Andy Richards, and Orsolya Ihasz, PhD 🤗 This session really made me think about the challenges of #entrepreneurship and how much it relies on #mindset. Our speakers shared so many gems 💎 that stuck with me: 💡 Balancing #timing and momentum—it’s not just about having a great idea, but knowing when and how to act. 🌊 Building a team that can challenge you, disagree with you, and still work together to grow. 🌟 Viewing failure not as a stop sign but as a way to learn and move forward. Hearing from our speakers, it’s clear that being entrepreneurial is as much about mindset as it is about ideas. The idea that resonated with me the most? 💬 “We grow through what we go through.” It’s a powerful reminder that #resilience and #resourcefulness are at the heart of entrepreneurship. 🙌 It’s about finding your tribe to help you grow and this year’s cohort has already shown incredible potential—I’m excited to see how their ideas evolve! 🚀

When you are a founder, getting crystal clear on your strengths and who you can help is extremely important. It's the difference between a thriving business and a struggling one. You simply cannot be everything to everyone. No, the key is to laser focus. To deeply understand the unique value only you can provide and pinpoint the specific audience that needs it most. It may not come to you right away. But if you pay close attention to whose problem you are solving and the impact of it, that clarity will emerge. When I asked visual science communicator and CEO Dr. Radhika Patnala which famous scientist she'd most want to collaborate with, her answer 👇 revealed that she has definitely found that entrepreneurial clarity. P.S: This is from a wonderful chat I had with Radhika on our shared passion for science communication and how we found our place in the world of science entrepreneurship! Stay tuned for more insights from her in the coming weeks. #founder #entreprenurship #startup #lifesciences #biotech #scicomm #CEO #business #entrepreneur

The third 'season' of The Germinator is about to launch! If this is the first time you hear about The Germinator, you might be wondering what this is all about... in which case, I'm happy to explain. The Germinator is a "fireside chat sans the fire" where we make space for all the stories about how commercialization, entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship, and innovation, became to be for our guests. The Germinator is about celebrating the challenge of transition, the hesitation before making the decision to do something differently. I host The Germinator virtually (over zoom) every two weeks (more or less), throughout (most of) the academic year. You can learn about this year's guest, previous years' guests, and to register to my mailing list to be notified of upcoming events, all accessible in this link: https://lnkd.in/gCFaPByC Whether you are a student, faculty, or not, I know you will find at least one guest that will pique your interest, whose story you would appreciate hearing. If you are already familiar with The Germinator, I hope to see you return for this year's roster of guests. I am grateful to have great ongoing support from entrepreneurship@UBCO #FireSideChat #Entrepreneurship #Conversations #OnlineEvent #UBC #UBCO #Stories #Innovation #Entrepreneurs #Innovators

💥 Hustle Hard, Help Others! 💥 During the final meeting on the last day of #ITCVegas, something amazing happened—a potential VERY large client sat down and said they came to the conference specifically looking for a solution like ours… and hadn’t found it until that very moment. But that wasn’t the only highlight. A group of young entrepreneurs approached me, asking for advice on finding a design partner for their product. I was able to connect them to a potential client immediately. I love young entrepreneurs not afraid to ask questions. It’s moments like these that remind me how powerful conferences can be—not just for business but for helping others and giving back to the entrepreneurial community. The message? Never stop hustling. You never know when the biggest opportunity will grab a coffee with you or when you’ll have the chance to make a meaningful connection for someone else. To all the startups and founders out there, keep going. Your next meeting could be the game-changer. 💪 P.S. This is a great example of what this hashtag is all about #becauseofITC #StartupLife #Hustle #ITCVegas #Entrepreneurship #KeepGoing #Innovation #Agentech #PayItForward #ITC2024
