We're excited to share our latest project in collaboration with VITUNLEIJA® for the recent BLOCKFEST event that took place in Tampere. Our fully rigged baby character, driven by iPhone facial capture data, made its debut on stage and truly captivated the audience. While our primary focus for this project was facial animation, we’ve also prepared a body rig to expand its capabilities further. This custom baby face was meticulously sculpted in ZBrush, refined in Maya, and underwent a complete overhaul of blendshapes to meet our client's precise needs. The result is a highly expressive and unique character, designed to convey genuine emotions. One of the key challenges we faced was finding suitable references for a baby character that needed to express realistic emotions without appearing overly mature. Tackling this challenge has brought a wealth of new experiences to our team. Odyssey 1.1 is finally available and can be downloaded! ⬇ The first update of Odyssey is out ! Here is what I worked on for this update : ✅ Improve 2D animation edition in the 3D environment to avoid mandatory usage of a Level Sequence ✅ 2D zoom, rotation and panning of the 3D environment ✅ A lot of new Shortcuts, to activate drawing tools, animation tools and flip between cells ✅ Import your 2d animations using Image Sequences (JPG, PNG, TGA, etc...) ✅ Convert you 2D animations to Flipbooks to reuse them in Unreal Engine 5 ✅ You can now reset your layout to an animation friendly layout ✅ Lots of bug fixes

I've been debating about idle animations with 2nd grade students from #TalentTech’s video games degree (Centre de la Imatge i la Tecnologia Multimèdia | CITM (UPC). We’ve been checking the definitions available in academic literature, and I was pleasantly surprised with the conclusions. Students didn’t agree with game design authors’ definitions (Roger, McKinley) and find it incomplete to define idle animations through the release of controllers. RPG games demonstrate it’s not a feature that all idles must include, and also when interaction is enabled through the camera movement during idle situations. They agreed with those definitions focusing on narrative values that good idle animations endure, like those that inform about a character’s personality or set the tone of the video game. They also valued when idle animations propose a fourth wall break. Therefore, the definition most of them chose was from a Human-Machine Interaction author (Ravenet). That makes me think that maybe game designers don’t take the topic so seriously to try to define it accurately and don’t think about idle animations as an offering to reinforce narrative experiences. Video games get more appealing when relying on narrative features, so we shouldn’t waste the possibility to enrich a video game’s experience relying on simple beckoning signs for an idle animation. I made my first (Fake) Commercial! This is the finished result from the latest course at Futuregames! I want to thank Kate Bernard as she extended her support the last couple of days and motivated me to keep it up with this idea I had. Thank you TRULY! I green screened my own Gunpla (Gundam Plastic models, Gundam Plamo, or Gunpla (ガンプラ, Ganpura) are model kits depicting the mecha machinery and characters of the fictional Gundam multiverse by Bandai.) I created some basic VFX in unreal, and some assets in AE were free use. The Unreal engine part and the Gunpla pics were taken behind a DIY miniature green screen studio made by me from scratch also basic space scene created in Unreal Engine 5.4. Programs used: Unreal Engine 5, Maya, Blender, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premier Pro, Procreate and Adobe Photoshop. I do not own the music!
