As the first light of dawn swept over the vast savannahs and settled upon Nairobi, Kenya's rugby community found itself at a critical juncture. The absence of several key warriors from the Olympic rugby squad seemed, at first glance, to signal a decline for a nation that had once reigned supreme in the fierce and fast-paced world of sevens rugby. Critics, ever eager to declare a downfall, overlooked the vibrant resurgence beneath the surface—a new generation of talent, poised and hungry for the challenge. Into the void left by the departed veterans stepped a band of young, determined athletes, their eyes ablaze with ambition. They brought with them fresh energy and innovative strategies, born from a fierce desire to carve out their own legacy. Though the transition was fraught with obstacles, and the youthful squad faced seasoned adversaries on the field, each encounter was a lesson, each match a stepping stone towards a stronger tomorrow. This perceived period of underachievement was, in truth, a tactical pause—a moment of reflection and renewal. Kenya was not faltering; it was recalibrating, investing in its youth to cultivate a new era of rugby prowess. The narrative was not one of decline but of hope and rebirth, as Kenya laid the foundation for a future rich with promise and potential. #KenyaRugby #RugbyRenaissance #RisingStars #YouthInSport #NextGenTalent #Underestimated #AthleticRenewal #FutureChampions #LegacyBuilding #KenyanPride Grace Buri

It's time to change the game—literally. Over the years, we have explored the possibilities. Now, it's time to take action. Africa is ready to establish and manage its own sporting leagues—from Football, Rugby, Tennis, Basketball, and more. These leagues will be developed and operated by African industry stakeholders and played on the African soil, all designed to build the Business of Sports on the continent. I eagerly anticipate attending the African Tennis Opens, where players from across the continent will compete for the title of the best tennis player in Africa, or the Africa Premier League, owned and operated within our continent. Imagine a vibrant African rugby circuit, or a Super Charge Africa Safari Rally, drivers, racing from Kenya to South Africa. The competitive spirit of Africa deserves its own platform, and It is our responsibility to make it a reality. Join me on YouTube https://lnkd.in/g5Wbfpv2 and lets explore the dynamic world of The Business of Sports in Africa. #BeingSyombua I #TheBusinessOfSports

President Rugby Africa-Sport is big business which can transform Africa’s 1.4 billion people. The continent has abundant natural resources, the greatest athletes in the world are African or have African decent. Rugby Africa has a budget of $2.25 million for 39 countries a year to compete to compete with rich nations with $100m a year budgets to become world champions. French rugby federation has 1200 Africans playing rugby in France🇫🇷 with several athletes of African decent. Agence Française de Développement has invested in gender and children in the sports sector. Africa has the product ‘athletes’, are they the best, ‘yes’ is it that the global market needs ‘yes’ thus there's a storng business case for investment. Rugby operates on principles of solidarity, respect, teamwork that need to be instilled in young people. Fundamental mindset change is required because sport provides entertainment and an education base for the future through realization, capital reforms thus a rugby stadium is required for each rugby playing country in Africa. Money’s friend is money, life is about timing, opportunities and angles, thus youth are the future of sport, which presents several opportunities in sports nutrition. #AfricanInvestmentForum #aif23 #morocco

Rugby is more than just a sport. It holds profound significance in South Africa, partly because of its historical and cultural symbolism. The Springboks lifted the trophy on the 28th of October 2023. You only have to suffer my joy for another three years. Rugby became a symbol of unity and transformation- from a sport played predominantly by the white population to a symbol of inclusivity and unity. It has brought us role models and inspiration most recently in Siya Kolisi - the embodiment of hope and perseverance. Rugby has become a unifying force that cuts across divisions. When the Springboks win the World Cup, the whole country feels a sense of belonging and togetherness, even if briefly. For many, rugby is a rare area where South Africans can find common ground. It is closer to religion. In fact my father- as a vicar- would first check the rugby fixtures before agreeing to a wedding! Becoming world champions is not just a sports achievement for South Africans; it embodies resilience, national pride, and a vision of a more united future.

The Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) has today issued a notice and suspended the membership of the National Federation - PNG Rugby Union due to serious administrative, governance and compliance issues, following the October 9th board meeting of the PNGOC. This suspension is effective immediately and follows a suspension of PNG Rugby by the regional body- Oceania Rugby for non-compliance to directives issued on the National Federation. To regain membership, PNG Rugby Union must address outlined governance issues, comply with Oceania Rugby's directives, and be reinstated as a member of Oceania Rugby and address the outstanding show cause request and compliance requirements of the PNGOC. We emphasize the importance of good governance and effective administration as essential pillars for any successful sporting body. This decision underscores our commitment to upholding these standards for the benefit of all stakeholders and athletes involved. Will there be changes in the World Rugby Rankings after Round 2 of the Africa Cup and Pacific Four Series? Let's see: - New Zealand's rating won't budge with a win over the USA due to a significant gap in points and rankings. - Even if they lose, the Black Ferns will hold onto second place, ahead of France. - A victory for the USA would propel them to seventh place, overtaking Ireland, Italy, and Wales. - Canada needs a big win over Australia to surpass France in the rankings. - Australia's fifth-place position remains unaffected by the match outcome. - South Africa won't improve their rating by beating Kenya, who are much lower in points and rankings. - In defeat, the Springbok Women would drop below Spain in the rankings, while Kenya could overtake China if they win. - Madagascar, despite a recent narrow win over Kenya, won't climb from their 26th place even with a strong victory against Cameroon. - However, Cameroon could rise up to three places to 28th if they win by more than 15 points, surpassing Madagascar. - Even a smaller victory would still move Cameroon up two spots, just behind Madagascar.
