My family grew up ballin on a budget. There was not a time I remembered buying full-priced clothes. We always hit up the sales racks, which is sometimes devastating to a 13-year-old who really wants the new BKE jeans (IYKYK). It wasn't until adulthood that I was thankful to have learned this skill set. I will always boast if my clothes were on sale, thrifted, or second-hand, and you best believe I will tell you exactly where I found it and probably the price (Sorry, not sorry)! Because of this I wanted to share some of my favorite places to resource clothes, in case you or someone you know is needing a frugal method for updating their wardrobe: -Clothes Mentor -Uptown Cheapskate -Good Will -Salvation Army -Local Charity Shops (Will depend on location) -Friends Closets/My closet :) Feel free to share this with your network and if you or a connection have questions or need tips on how to find good items and additional resources I am more than happy to help! #thrift #dresscode #beyou #sustainability

One of the tenets of Nancy Dilts Wardrobe Consulting is to keep functional clothing in the use stream. Donation of clothing that is still in good shape but no longer being worn is a win-win for the environment and for people who do not have the means to purchase the clothing they need. This will only become more essential in the coming months. Your old winter coat will be a blessing for a person who is unhoused. A suit can mean job readiness for a recently arrived refugee, and basic staple pieces can create a new wardrobe for a woman escaping domestic abuse and starting over. As we celebrate this month and next with our loved ones, here are some ways to bring joy to others who may be struggling. In almost every community, there are local organizations that offer services to specific groups of people in need. They meet the immediate needs of their clients – interview and work wear for women and men developing job skills to enter the work force, a free-of-charge clothing shop for people who are unhoused, winter outerwear for refugees who have been forced from their own countries. These organizations are vital to the well-being of so many of our fellow citizens. Look online for local organizations in your community and consider a clothing or monetary donation to one of them. Following are a few Twin Cities organizations that offer these kinds of services: ⭐ Dress for Success (national; local affiliate-St. Paul) ⭐ Joseph’s Coat (St. Paul) ⭐ Nine Lives Thrift (St. Paul) ⭐ Old School by Steeple People (Minneapolis) ⭐ Family Pathways Thrift Store (Forest Lake) ⭐ STEP-St. Louis Park Emergency Program (St. Louis Park) ⭐ Neighbors Clothes Closet (South Saint Paul) ⭐ Assistance League Thrift Shop (Richfield) The generosity of giving is powerful in untold ways. I'd love to hear what other local organizations you care about that help bring new life to people in your community. Comment below. 👇👇👇👇

We believe in the power of a clean, organized home for helping you and your family feel and do their best. ✨💪 Here are some organization tips! 1. Break down larger tasks into smaller tasks. Go drawer by drawer, cabinet by cabinet, closet by closet if you have to. 2. Get motivated. This can be anything. If you feel like you can't get organized because there aren't enough places to put things, invest in organizational supplies, like hooks and drawer inserts. You might also reward yourself after you're done by lighting a new candle, putting out a new throw pillow, or giving yourself an evening to dedicate to self-care. If you've got kids, promise them a movie night after they declutter their rooms. 3. Find easy-to-access places for items that are used regularly. For items rarely used, place them more out of the way. 4. Consider a capsule wardrobe. Arrange your closet so that you can keep track of what you've worn. If by the end of the season/year that clothing is untouched, donate it. If you've got growing children, keep up with clothes that don't fit. You can put a box in their closet that, as soon as you or they notice something doesn't fit anymore, that piece of clothing goes directly in. 5. Make places to put things, like #2 touched on. If you usually have mail scattered all over your table, hang up a mail organizer. If your makeup is constantly all over the bathroom counter, find a place to put a dedicated vanity in your room or closet. If toys are constantly everywhere, add a bookshelf with bins to the kids' rooms. 6. Downsize belongings. And finally, donate or sell things you never use anymore. It's easier to keep a handful of items organized than an entire arsenal. Feel free to share your organizational tips below! #CleaningHacks #Zerorez #TriCities

Do you notice how the smallest spaces can sometimes have the most significant impact? Last year, I worked with a client who had a small hall closet. While that closet seemed insignificant, decluttering and organizing it improved its functionality. We were shocked at how much stuff we pulled out of it! Today, take 10 minutes to declutter your hall closet. Set your time for 10 minutes and remove all items from the closet. If you have a big hall closet or the closet is crammed full, focus on one area, like the hanging rod, the floor, or the shelf/shelves. Sort through the coats, shoes, accessories, and whatever else is hiding. Decide what stays and what goes. As always, keep only what you use regularly or love. Put the items you keep away neatly, throw away broken items, and put things for donation into a bag. The nice thing about having an organized hallway closet is that it becomes guest-friendly by freeing up space for their belongings, making it easier to find and store seasonal items (like scarves and umbrellas). That wasn't so hard. I hope you have a wonderful (and productive) week! Need help? Let's chat!
