Todays talk “No Panic! Getting your head around anxiety” was for the brilliant Geldards LLP a very welcoming and engaged bunch over 70 individuals. Also raising money for the Charity No Panic at the same time, which as a patron the team are always very pleased about! 💙 Do get in touch if you're interested in having the session in your organisation for bookings in December 2024 or early next year. I’ll leave you with three questions from Dr Martin Seligman that are helpful when you might be experiencing anxious thoughts and want to stop from spiralling even more (as well as some calm breathing, too!). 1️⃣ is this permanent? 2️⃣ is this personal? 3️⃣ is this pervasive? #anxiety #mentalhealth #keynote

Hello! As some of you may know, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) are a charity dedicated to combatting suicide, depression, anxiety, and many other illnesses that plague people’s minds. They operate helplines, communities, and events throughout the year to help those in need, and to help those who love people in need. Next month they are running a fundraising campaign called 62 Miles In October. You probably can’t guess from the title, but the aim is to walk, run, ride, or swim for 62 miles over the month. I’m making this post, not just to ask for donations to my page (although obviously they are very welcome), but to encourage anyone who might be interested to sign up, take part, and spread awareness themselves among their own networks. It could be a nice reminder to get out of the house as it starts to get darker outside, but with the added bonus of knowing that we’ll each be contributing to a great cause ahead of the winter, when things get even darker for so many people out there. 62 miles works out to 2 miles a day, which is roughly a 45 minute walk, or only about 15 days of getting in your 10,000 steps! It isn’t actually much activity for the majority of us, plus you get a free t-shirt! If you don’t fancy the walk yourself, you could always drop a couple of quid here: https://lnkd.in/eGeDbG3S But if you want to join up, the link to start your challenge is below. Let me know if you do! Thanks all! Sign up for your own challenge: https://lnkd.in/e3crmSXk P.S. If you or anyone you know are affected by any of these issues, please do reach out to CALM, Shout!, or The Samaritans. I'm not a professional, but I'm always around if you want to chat too!

Please could I have a moment of your time to speak about men's mental health As Movember contiunes, it’s important to remember that the month isn’t just about growing a moustache — it’s about sparking crucial conversations and raising awareness around men’s health, particularly mental well-being. Men’s mental health remains a critical issue that is often overlooked. A shocking 1 in 8 men will experience a mental health problem each year, yet men are less likely to seek help compared to women. This reluctance is often driven by stigma and societal pressures to "tough it out". Alarmingly, men account for over 75% of all suicides worldwide, highlighting just how urgent it is to address this issue. Movember serves as a powerful catalyst for change. It encourages us to have open conversations, normalise vulnerability, and raise vital funds for research into mental health, suicide prevention, and other key areas of men’s health. This Movember, let’s take the opportunity to support the men in our lives — whether they’re colleagues, friends, or family members. By offering empathy and understanding, we can break the silence and help create a culture where mental health is prioritised alongside physical health. My society at the University of Plymouth has utilised the resources provided by the University of Plymouth Students' Union of Plymouth Students' Union to fundraise for this incredibly important cause. Here at #Plymouth, we are passionate about advocating for good mental health, particularly as members of the Psychology Society. This commitment is also reflected in the work of our new Vice-Chancellor, Richard Davies, who continues to champion mental health initiatives within the university. I am feeling proud of my society and the Optometry society for supporting our efforts. I am feeling blessed to contribute to my community and make a change for the better. Thank you for the read Charlotte Williams is the chair for our society, follow the attached post to donate to their page Alternatively, find the team effort's here -> https://lnkd.in/efA6i4-Z
As an aspiring psychologist I am deeply worried about men's mental health especially because for many men, societal pressures and stigma make it difficult to seek help. But no one should have to struggle in silence. This month, the Psychology Society at Plymouth University has been working hard to raise awareness and funds for this vital cause. Through events like a bake sale, pub quiz, and generous contributions from our friends and family, we’ve raised £288 so far. Our goal is £500, and we’re so close—but we need your help to get there! Men account for nearly half of the world’s population—our fathers, brothers, friends, and partners. Their mental well-being matters, and we can make a difference together. If you’re able to donate, please follow the link below. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to supporting men’s health this month and beyond.

**Trigger Warning: This post discusses decluttering after the loss of a loved one and may be triggering for some. Please proceed at your convenience and mental preparedness.** Without decluttering, constant reminders of the loss can hinder the grieving process, making it difficult to heal and move forward. Steps for Physical Declutter: 1. Start Small: Begin with a single drawer or a small space. 2. Keep Sentimental Items: Hold on to a few items that carry deep sentimental value. 3. Donate: Consider donating usable items to charities or those in need. 4. Take Breaks: Allow yourself to take breaks and step away if the process becomes too overwhelming. Remember, there’s no rush. Proceed at your own pace and when you feel mentally prepared. Your feelings are valid and it's important to honor them. #Ofgriefandloss #Healing #Resilience
