I attended a one-day capacity-building training workshop on "Evaluation and assessment" hosted by CPDC University of Chakwal. It was an amazing learning opportunity from a HEC NAHE expert and trainer Dr, Zeeshan Zaib Khattak, where he briefly discussed that how evaluating and assessing students through rubrics is a systematic and transparent method that enhances both teaching and learning processes. Rubrics provide clear criteria for evaluation. By outlining specific expectations for each performance level, rubrics offer students a detailed understanding of what is required to achieve each grade, thereby promoting self-assessment and goal setting. Often, teachers believe they've done a good job, not knowing that we’ve forgotten most of the information they’ve given us by the end of the lesson. This experience is why I never take summarizing lightly. I always make it a priority to give a comprehensive recap of everything I’ve taught at the end of a class. I believe a proper summary of the key takeaways helps ensure that my students don't face the same challenges I did. Summaries play a crucial role in solidifying what a student retains and takes away from the lesson.
