The US continues to have the highest maternal mortality rate of all high-income nations, and Black, American Indian and Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander women are 2 to 3 times more likely to die of pregnancy-related complications than White women (CDC). Addressing these significant inequities requires cross-sector commitment and collaboration, including delivery systems, policy makers, advocates, public health professionals, community based organizations and payers. The National Partnership for Women & Families, with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has developed a practical guide to implement and accelerate improvement in maternal health outcomes and eliminate inequities (see link below). Let's work together to end preventable maternal mortality. #patientsafety #healthequity #publichealth #systemsimprovement #healthoutcomes #maternalhealth

Investing in healthcare services for older adults to improve efficiency in coordinated care, health outcomes, and reduce costs is critical for the long-term sustainability of health systems. Transitional care programs that support older adults with returning home after a hospital admission show promise for advancing comprehensive, coordinated, and rehabilitative care for older adults. If health systems globally are integrating transitional care programs as a core health service, what investments has Canada made? Read more about what transitional care programs exist across Canada from W&W’s strategy lead, Dr. Brittany Barber, PhD. #olderadults #transitionalcare #textandopinion

This information should come as no surprise to anyone. As Dr. Daniel Dawes described in his book “Political Determinants of Health” and we start looking upstream at the issues impacting us, our patients, our communities, like the government, voting, and policies….then those issues downstream like the SDOH will never change. This article has some really great steps at making changes. Hope we can do it…. #healthequityforall

America's healthcare system often fails older adults due to high costs, lack of coordination, and insufficient attention to age-specific needs. Two key surveys highlight significant issues: only 11% of older Americans rate the healthcare system highly, and nearly 70% fear they cannot afford future care. Despite spending more on healthcare than other developed nations, the U.S. ranks last in health equity, access, and outcomes. Older adults face challenges such as navigating a fragmented healthcare system, high out-of-pocket costs averaging $7,000 annually, and limited access to dental care. Medicare coverage gaps, especially for long-term and dental care, exacerbate financial strain. Moreover, only a small percentage receive comprehensive care focused on cognitive health, mobility, and personalized goals, contributing to dissatisfaction. Age-friendly care models, like the VA's Whole Health system, show promise by prioritizing holistic care, but the broader system remains largely unresponsive to older adults' needs, leaving many feeling neglected. Our RCM team of professionals assists healthcare entities by implementing streamlined processes that improve care coordination, reduce administrative burdens, and identify cost-saving opportunities. We focus on enhancing efficiency in billing and reimbursement, addressing out-of-pocket cost issues, and ensuring better access to age-friendly care for older adults. Reacting to Lord Darzi's report on the state of the NHS published today, Amanda Allard and Matthew Dodd, Co-chairs of the Children and Young People’s Health Policy Influencing Group (HPIG) said: "Children cannot afford to remain an afterthought in the development of national policy. "We welcome the new government's ambition to raise the healthiest generation of children ever, but the scale of the challenge must not be underestimated. We must have leadership from the very top that prioritises childhood. "The first step will be making babies, children and young people a central pillar of the forthcoming Ten Year Plan, followed by a greater and more equitable share of health service funding being allocated to children at the forthcoming Spending Review. "Nothing less than this will do." Read the full HPIG statement at https://lnkd.in/eZvDfkNi
