Some of you may have noticed, we mention Florida quite a bit. This is because we have quite a lot of Floridians in our Morales Method® community. And, you may not know this, but our Marketing Manager and Morales Method® Instructor, Caroline Moncure, is native to Virginia and North Carolina. With these two things mind, we felt it was important to bring some attention to the how this Hurricane season, which isn't over yet, has been affecting the Southeastern US. With the victims of Hurricane Helene still suffering from flooding, lack of electricity, and little access to food and water, they are not prepared for the incoming Hurricane Milton set to make landfall in Florida on Wednesday evening. The devastation left by Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina is heartbreaking. Homes have been destroyed, families displaced, and entire communities are grappling with the unimaginable task of rebuilding their lives. This region, known for its beauty and strength, now stands battered and in need of our help. As we look at the wreckage, it’s not just buildings that have crumbled, but the sense of security so many cherished. Yet, even in the midst of this loss, there is a powerful reminder: we are stronger together. Whether you’re near or far, you can make a difference: 1. Donate to local relief funds: Every dollar counts. Organizations on the ground are working around the clock to provide food, shelter, and medical care. Your contribution could be the lifeline someone desperately needs. 2. Help local businesses recover: So many small businesses, the backbone of these communities, are struggling to stay afloat. Consider supporting them through donations, online purchases, or spreading the word about their needs. 3. Volunteer: If you’re nearby, consider offering your time to help with clean-up and rebuilding efforts. Hands-on help is invaluable in moments like these. 4. Send care packages or supplies: If you can’t be there physically, sending essentials like toiletries, non-perishable food, or clothing can directly aid those who have lost everything. This is a moment for all of us to step up, to be there for one another, and to show what community truly means. 🪴

Over the past week, we’ve been heartbroken by the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. Families have been displaced, loved ones lost to the rising waters, and entire communities destroyed. It has been incredibly difficult to witness. Yet, amidst the heartbreak, we’ve seen people come together in remarkable ways. From the overflowing carts of water and essentials at Costco to the incredible donations pouring in from local businesses and organizations—it has been nothing short of inspiring. We’ve spoken with many who have traveled to the affected areas, and they’re blown away not only by the devastation but also by the overwhelming support and generosity. This recovery will be a marathon, not a sprint, but together, we can continue to uplift and support those in need. For a comprehensive list of organizations you can partner with—whether you want to be hands-on, give financially, or lend a helping hand, check out our latest blog post: https://lnkd.in/eGkGmHkz If you know of other organizations doing important work in the recovery efforts, please feel free to share them in the comments, and we’ll be happy to add them to the blog post! Let’s Support Those Impacted by the Hurricane: Donate Your Hotel Points Thanks to a post I saw on Instagram from Katherine Miller, I wanted to share this thought. I have been trying to think of how I can offer support to those impacted by Helene and those that will be impacted all over again by Milton. So many families have lost everything, and while we all want to help, it can be hard to know where to start. Thanks to Katherine, this is something that many of us #roadwarrios can do and it is a simple way to make an impact by donating your unused hotel points to support relief efforts. Many hotel chains allow you to donate points directly to organizations like American Red Cross, World Central Kitchen, and Team Rubicon—all working tirelessly to provide shelter, food, and comfort to those who’ve been affected. Here’s how you can help: Check with your hotel’s rewards program to see if they have a donation option for disaster relief. Choose a trusted organization that’s on the front lines helping families rebuild. Make your donation—even a small amount can provide temporary housing for those who’ve lost their homes. In times like these, every bit of support makes a difference. If you have hotel points sitting around, this is a great way to put them to good use and help those who need it most. I know we all want to help in any way we can. Whether it’s donating points, sharing resources, or simply spreading the word, together we can make a real impact. Groups like Marriott Hotels and Hilton Hotels & Resorts allow you to donate your points to the charity of your choice or disaster relief. Let’s step up and support the people and communities who need us right now. 💙 #HurricaneRelief #DonateHotelPoints #CommunitySupport

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, the North Carolina Sustainable Business Council is deeply concerned about the widespread effects this storm has had on communities, businesses, and the environment in western North Carolina. Our hearts go out to the residents and businesses that have faced unprecedented challenges, and we stand ready to support them during this critical time. We are calling on our members, businesses, and citizens to join us in this initiative. Here are ways you can help: Donate: Contributions to local charities and relief funds can go a long way in providing immediate support to those in need. Every dollar counts. Shop Local: In the coming months, support local businesses that are struggling to recover by choosing to shop at your favorite stores and dining at local restaurants as they re-open. Spread the Word: Help us raise awareness of the situation and share information about available resources through your social media channels. Volunteer in whatever capacity you can. Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond environmental stewardship to encompass community resilience. The road to recovery may be long, but together, we can build a stronger, more resilient North Carolina. Together, let us rise to the challenge and reinforce the spirit of community that defines western North Carolina. The following community foundations have disaster relief funds that we recommend that are already activated, and the Triangle Community Foundation will be matching donations to them up to $25,000. The People of North Carolina need our help! 🆘 Lending a Hand to Hurricane Helene Victims 🙏🏼 The aftermath of Hurricane Helene has left numerous families displaced, people missing, homes demolished, and communities in absolute ruin. The impact is extremely devastating, but with all of our help, we can help make a meaningful difference. I’ve been chatting with a buddy who is boots on the ground in Western North Carolina. Doing some incredibly challenging work performing search and rescues deep into the mountains of Appalachia. He has a crew of convoys going back and forth into cell range areas to gather supplies and then going back to up into the Mountains for search and rescue missions. Going on 72 hours straight right now… There is a massive cold front coming in, and people need supplies and cold weather gear. Desperately! He asked me leverage my network and see if i could get any further donations as they need generators, supplies, cash to hand out, and cold weather gear. I’ve already personally donated $1500 but money is a bit tight, so trying to help anyway I can! There are millions of ways you can contribute. However, if you want to help people directly that are boots on ground, You can Venmo me directly, or I’ve also put links to others you can donate directly to. (Including one amazing man using donkeys and pack mules to get deep into the mountains to help those folks) Venmo: Luke-McGinnis-23 (Awkward giving my Venmo, but anytime this happens, scammers try and copy the Venmo accts and usernames of the people receiving donations. I am just trying to ensure it gets into the right people’s hands asap). I am in a chat/thread with a group of folks and get it to those most in need asap! Here’s how we can contribute: Donate: Financial support to reputable relief organizations is a direct and impactful way to assist. Every contribution, no matter how small, can have a significant impact. I have provided some Links in comments! Volunteer: If feasible, consider aiding organizations in cleanup efforts and distributing essential supplies. Your time and effort can 100% make a difference. Spread Awareness: Utilize our platforms to share crucial resources and updates. By raising awareness about the needs of affected communities, we can rally more support. Let’s demonstrate that in times of crisis, we can rise together and help out our fellow neighbors!

Nobody could have been prepared for the devastation Hurricane Helene left behind in North Carolina… not even their community health centers. Despite facing their own challenges—damaged facilities, power and water shortages, and displaced staff—these health centers rose to the occasion, providing critical care, shelter, and essential supplies to those who needed it most. Now, it’s our turn to give back. This month, we’re shining a spotlight on the North Carolina Community Health Center Association (NCCHCA) Disaster Relief Fund. This fund is a powerful opportunity for people across the nation to make a real impact, helping rebuild community health centers and strengthen the vital role they play. You have two ways to contribute: 1️⃣ Support the Health Center Operation Fund to aid multiple centers in restoring essential services, fueling mobile units, and repairing facilities. 2️⃣ Support the Staff Recovery Fund to directly help health center staff who’ve lost homes, belongings, and more. Can’t decide? Join us in splitting your donation between the two funds to maximize hope, healing, and stability. Let’s stand with North Carolina—because when our communities rebuild, we all grow stronger. Find out more and donate here: https://lnkd.in/eA9pDjKz
