Ed Barrows brings up an essential connection between leadership character and organizational performance. As Diane Belcher's article from Harvard Business Publishing highlights, research shows a compelling link between leaders with high character scores and superior financial outcomes for their companies (Belcher, 2024). I believe character is foundational to effective leadership. Traits like integrity, empathy, courage, and curiosity (Belcher, 2024) enable leaders to make principled decisions, engage employees, and navigate complex challenges. This is especially critical in cybersecurity, where leaders must balance risk, innovation, and ethics. I'm encouraged to see increasing attention paid to character's role in leadership research and practice. By investing in character development, organizations can build leaders who deliver results the right way. As Belcher (2024) notes, "When leaders demonstrate character, it drives trust and business results." That's a powerful formula for long-term success. #leadershipdevelopment #character
