Visiting Monarto Safari Park these school holidays? You’ll find our new drinking fountain at the Black Rhino bus stop, near the Asian elephant habitat, making it easier than ever to stay hydrated. Choosing tap water over bottled is also great for your wallet and helps reduce single-use plastic waste, protecting ecosystems and the incredible wildlife we all love.

Just look at that face. 😍 Meet one of Hawaii’s most charming locals, the Hawaiian Monk Seal. 🦭 Today is Endangered Species Day, and we're spotlighting these critically endangered sea pups. With fewer than 1,100 left in the wild, they face numerous threats, notably from discarded fishing nets and plastic debris that pollute their natural habitats. Like many sea creatures. these seals often suffer from entanglement or ingest plastics, mistaking them for food. Unfortunately, eating plastics and getting caught in nets tends to be fatal. So, every piece of plastic you refuse helps reduce the risk to these adorable beach blobs. Together, we can safeguard the Hawaiian Monk Seal (and other endangered marine life 🐠) by fighting plastic pollution and advocating for cleaner, safer oceans.

🌍 Pick Up Your Own Trash: Small Actions, Big Impact🌍 In conjunction with World CleanUp Day 2024 (September 20), take a moment to reflect on the importance of personal responsibility when it comes to caring for our environment. Often, we wait for large-scale initiatives or complex systems to fix the problem, but the truth is that change starts with us—it starts with something as simple as picking up our own trash. We don’t need grand gestures to make a significant difference. By consciously ensuring our own waste is disposed of properly, we help: 🌱 Reduce pollution 🌱 Preserve natural resources 🌱 Conserve wildlife habitats 🌱 Create a culture of cleanliness and responsibility In my years in the automotive industry, we’ve always focused on reducing waste and improving processes. The same principles apply to our daily lives. Whether it's at the workplace, in the community, or even during a walk, let’s make it a habit to leave the environment better than we found it. On this World CleanUp Day, I encourage everyone to take action—pick up your own trash, and if you see litter around, take a moment to clean it up. Small actions, when multiplied by millions, create a global impact. Let’s be the change, starting today. 🌍♻️ #WorldCleanUpDay #Sustainability #EnvironmentalResponsibility #PickUpYourTrash #SmallActionsBigImpact

In celebration of Sea Turtle week, here are some ways to be a responsible coastal resident: Marine debris consists of trash that is disposed of or abandoned into the marine environment, such as plastic bottles, cups, food wrappers, straws, cigarette butts, and other plastic items. This debris poses a threat to natural resources and humans alike. Sea turtles, marine mammals, and other species can swallow pieces of trash and experience entanglements. Follow these tips to help keep our waters and shorelines free of pollution. Choose reusable products, such as water bottles, cups, and bags, instead of single-use plastics. Plan ahead to reduce the amount of plastic and disposable items you bring to coastal areas. Secure your belongings to prevent them from becoming marine debris. Never leave trash behind at the beach and never throw it in the water. Participate in beach cleanups to remove trash from your coastal area. #SeaTurtleWeek #seaturtleweek

Spotlight on Ghost Gear: A Hidden Threat to Our Oceans Our Nature Network partner Coastal Action is #MakingWaves, shedding light on ghost gear—abandoned fishing nets, lines, and traps that continue to harm marine life long after they've been lost. Ghost gear is a major threat to our oceans, entangling countless marine animals and contributing to plastic pollution. They are working to remove ghost gear from our waters and prevent it from causing further damage. By raising awareness and taking action, we can protect marine ecosystems and ensure a healthier ocean for future generations. Loggerhead sea turtles are not just majestic creatures of the ocean; they're also skilled hunters! However, they face a unique challenge: distinguishing between jellyfish, their favorite prey, and plastic bags, a common marine debris. 🐢 🔍 This similarity poses a significant threat to their survival as they often mistake plastic bags for food, leading to ingestion and potential harm. As advocates for ocean conservation, it's our responsibility to raise awareness and take action to protect these incredible creatures. Let's work together to reduce plastic pollution and ensure a safer environment for marine life. 🌟 #OceanConservation #ProtectOurTurtles #SayNoToPlastic #ThinkOcean #Sustainability #CommunityImpact #BeatPlasticPollution #SaveOurOceans #PlasticPollution #OceanConservation #thinkocean #seapollution #plasticpollution #saveourseas #bethetideforchange #bethetide #sustainability

"Did you know? Over 40% of plastic trash is single-use, like grocery bags, drinking bottles, straws, and food wrappers. This leads to millions of animal deaths every year, from birds to fish and other aquatic life. Let's refuse to pollute the ocean with every meal, drink, or shopping trip. They don't have a choice, but we do. Make your choice a plastic-free one. Let's reduce, reuse, and clean up our act for a healthier planet!" Do you know that dolphins, fish, sharks, turtles, seabirds and crabs are vulnerable to harm from plastic debris in the ocean? Additionally, animals also mistake small plastic debris for food or become entangled in or strangled by plastic bags and discarded fishing nets. This is why @keeptheoceancleaninitiative is investing heavily to educate maritime stakeholders and coastal communities on the dangers of marine pollution. Together we can save our ocean and marine lives..

Do you know which trash is most commonly found during our beach cleanups? 🚬🌊 During our beach cleanup, we collected lots of cigarette butts from the shoreline. Cigarette butts are the most common type of trash found on beaches, and they are non-recyclable, taking up to 10 years to decompose. Each of these butts could have otherwise ended up in our ocean, harming marine life and ecosystems. Beach cleanups are more than just picking up trash—they’re a vital step in protecting our beaches and marine environments. By removing litter, especially items like cigarette butts, we’re making a big difference in the fight against ocean pollution. Every small action adds up to a cleaner, healthier planet. #beachclean #litter #coralcatch #recycle #plastic #cleanup #scholarship #womanpower #generationrestoration
