In my research of the theme Panta Hen, all is one, I discovered the scientist von Humboldt (18th century). He looked for the deeper patterns in nature, based on questions such as: "Why are there fewer birds in India than in South America and why are tigers only found in Asia?" He saw the damage caused by deforestation and the colonial system and developed a new view of nature. This saw the earth as one large organism, in which everything is connected and is controlled and animated by internal forces, Het developed the concept of 'The Web of Life', the idea in which nature is considered and we become aware of its vulnerability. Everything is interconnected and if one thread is pulled apart, the entire fabric unravels. This moved me deeply because it is very actual, and I wanted to translate this visually. Because it is about the coherence of everything I focussed on the lines that connect the small canvasses I used.
