DO THIS
In 2018, I asked Black teenagers from various #Chicago neighborhoods: "Where have you been made to feel like you don't belong?" I photographed them in those places and recorded their stories. Last year, during my two-month residency in #Paris, I asked the same question to young Black and Algerian individuals, expanding my "Belonging Project" into a transatlantic conversation about racial divisions in these major cities. Now, I'm excited to share their compelling reflections and portraits with you part of the "Opening Passages: Photographers Respond to Chicago and Paris" exhibition at the Chicago Cultural Center. This exhibit, open FREE to the public from May 4th to August 25th, captures the experiences people from both #Chicago and #Paris. Through portraits and audio narratives, you can hear their personal stories, including more from these young French men Osain Vichi , Karlton seydi and Enzo Fonclaud 📍 Chicago Cultural Center, 4th Floor North Exhibition Hall 🗓️ Admission is FREE, Open May 4th to August 25th ⏰ Daily from 10 AM to 5 PM (Exhibition closes 15 mins before the building) Curated by Carl Fuldner with Clément Postec & Pascal Beausse and I'm honored to share this space with talented photographers: zakkiyyah najeebah dumas-o'neal, Marzena Abrahamik, Jonathan Castillo, Assia Labbas, Marion Poussier, Karim Kal, Rebecca Topakian and Sasha Phyars-Burgess. This event is part of Art Design Chicago and supported by Albertine Foundation, Institut français Alliance Française de Chicago, University of Chicago, Ateliers Médicis, Centre national des arts plastiques (Cnap), and more. Can't wait to see you there! #PhotographyExhibit #ChicagoParis #UrbanStories #ExploreBlackness *Special thanks to my close friend and fellow #EnglewoodArtsCollective co-founder David Robinson for being my partner and sound engineer on this series! 🔥💯✊🏽

Photo 2024 has launched! This is a world-class exhibition with 100 free public displays that you can peruse while wandering through Melbourne. Some truly innovative photographers are featured, like First Nations artist Tony Albert and Rennie Ellis. The Art Trail is back and starts at Federation Square, then goes to Southbank Promenade and Melbourne Town Hall, and finishes at the State Library of Victoria. There’ll also be an Ideas Summit at ACMI, creating a fantastic opportunity for collaboration amongst the creative-minded in our community. We hope these artworks evoke new ideas and add intrigue to your day. Enjoy!

Last week I visited Museo Tiflológico de la ONCE in Madrid. It is a museum designed for people who are blind or have low vision. Everything is labelled with braille. All items can be touched. There are audio guides. It is an impressive example of how to present an inclusive, accessible exhibition. The low lighting and focus on tactile experiences are helpful for people with different impairments and preferences to enjoy and learn about the items on display. Entry is free of charge. You can find more information about the museum by following this link: https://museo.once.es/ #inclusiveCommunication #accessibleCommunication #inclusiveArts Image description: 6 photos taken inside the museum. 1 - a sculpture of a jug pouring water. 2 - a painting of a man holding a guitar next to some jumbo-sized braille. 3 - a 3D relief map of the city of Toledo. 4 - the front cover of a brochure that says “Ciudad de Toledo - Recorrido Táctil”. 5 - the information sign in front of the map that says “Plano de Toledo. Escala: 1:2000” alongside a QR code, some braille, and an icon of headphones. 6 - a 3D model of the Colosseum.

Who says fine art is just for museums? Imagine you and your besties, draped in elegant gowns, posing like the queens you are. A portrait session isn’t just about capturing individual beauty; it can also capture the beauty of the bond of friendship in style. Let's turn moments into masterpieces! 🎨✨ #headshotphotography #annphotography #lifestylebranding #californiaphotography #headshotphotographer #branding #visualbranding

In this week's #wizreadswednesdays, we are deep diving into renaissance paintings. Did you know that many paintings from that period had hidden self portraits or were multisided. The Metropolitan Museum is showcasing such works, prompting the author of this moderate difficulty article to explore the phenomenon. Read the article and answer this medium difficulty question. https://lnkd.in/gBN4PakS Which of the following best describes the primary purpose of the article? A. to induce readers to buy tickets to the Met exhibition B. to argue that the paintings with such covers are more valuable than paintings without C. to illustrate the tradition of multisided portraiture with examples D. to compare renaissance portraits with modern-day portraits E. to recommend portraits that fit the Met's requirements and should be included in the exhibition #gmat #gmatprep #gmatpreparation #gmatverbal #gmatrc #wizako #wizreads #wizreadswednesdays #readingcomprehension #mainidea

'In Silence with Matthew Wong' is a one-of-a-kind in-gallery experience at the Van Gogh Museum. At the end of the Matthew Wong exhibition, you find yourself in one last room. It's dark and spacious with a blue-lit atmosphere. Within this room is just one painting. As you enter the space, you encounter a series of prompts and tips to prepare you for the silent experience: - Allow your eyes and thoughts to wander freely - Focus on a detail, a colour, the composition or the paint strokes - Look at the work from a different angle, or lie down instead of sitting. You might see something completely new. - Reflect on your feelings: what does the work evoke in you? This space serves two purposes. First, with minimal distractions, it allows you to concentrate fully on the single artwork, noticing all the details and nuances more deeply. Secondly, it provides a quiet, peaceful place for reflection on the exhibition's themes away from the busyness of the rest of the museum. It's unlike any other part of the museum. Go and see it if you can! Are there any other examples of galleries with just one painting? I know of 'Room to Breathe' at Manchester Art Gallery from Louise Thompson, with its minimal artwork and comfy sofas. Where else in the world can you do this? The Impossibility of Place was an exhibition of photographs at the Peninsula Chicago in 2018. From the exhibition text: The Peninsula Chicago is honored to feature this exclusive exhibit by photographer, Lincoln Schatz, through 2018 in our 5th floor lobby. Lincoln Schatz, a local to Chicago, finds inspiration in the immersion of nature. His works provide an escape from the urban landscape and explore time and place within the immensity of our world. The experience of being in a forest, on a mountain, in a lake or ocean confronts him with just how insignificant one’s place is in both the physical world and in relation to the history of the world. The Forest Walk Aspen photographs address the experience of hiking into the forests outside of Aspen, Colorado. As time passes during these trips, one’s eyes begin to adjust away from cities and phone screen. The eyes begin to reset, allowing the surprising density of the forest to overlay in one’s mind and memory. The Lichen Big Sky, Montana and Lost Coast 17 photographs address detailed aspects of forests found in Wyoming, Montana and California. These photographs, in some ways, are the inverse of the Forest Walk, in that they provide detailed, up-close mapping of microcosms in the forest that modify themselves over time in infinite ways.
