After the pandemic we all thought that the new way forward for the event industry was virtual and hybrid events. We would be able to reach a wider audience much more easily and save thousands in costs along the way. We soon realised very quickly that this was not the case. We wanted to reconnect in person again. Networking is a crucial skill in both personal and professional contexts. It involves building and maintaining relationships that can lead to opportunities, support, and information exchange. Engaging with a diverse group of professionals allows for the exchange of ideas, best practices, and industry insights. It provides; > Support System: A strong network provides emotional and professional support, which is invaluable during challenging times. > Collaboration Opportunities: Networking facilitates partnerships and collaborations that can lead to innovative projects and business ventures. > Visibility and Personal Branding: Active networking helps individuals increase their visibility in their industry and build a personal brand, enhancing their professional reputation. For the last event of the year I had the privilege of joining the TAG UK Events team Chris Turner and Brad Bray Gemma Collinge in Bangkok run by the wonderful Claire Jones. We were joined by over 1200 attendees from the airline industry, over 7 days, with 3 receptions a gala dinner, over 30 exhibitors, a plenary, 4 tracks and various industry meetings. This was truly a fantastic networking event to work on. #events #networking #collobration #teamwork #internationalevents #conferences #exhibitors #sponsors

I recently had an interaction with an entrepreneur who attended a conference in North America, and he shared how impactful the VIP dinner was for him. These are "Side/Sister" events After a full day of sessions, he attended the exclusive dinner, where he had the opportunity to connect with key industry leaders in a relaxed, intimate setting. The conversations were more personal, and the connections he made there were far deeper than those he made during the formal sessions. This got me thinking: Sister events are a key component of the North American conference experience, adding significant value to the delegate journey. Here’s why: 🎈 Networking: Events like dinner parties or luncheons create opportunities for meaningful, informal conversations 🎈 Brand Engagement: Sponsors can connect with key delegates in intimate settings, making a stronger impact 🎈 Diverse Experiences: Car drives, golf tournaments, and workshops offer something for everyone, catering to different interests 🎈 Building Relationships: Roundtables and smaller events help forge long-term connections that extend beyond the conference Sister events elevate the overall experience by providing unique opportunities that go beyond the main event. Whether it’s a luxury car test drive or an exclusive dinner, they create lasting memories and valuable relationships. What sister events have enhanced your conference experience? #EventPlanning #Networking #DelegateEngagement #SisterEvents #EventExperience #BrandVisibility

Industry events = COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME After having attended 50+ events in the last 2.5 years: I’ve realised that there’s ZERO value in such events (esp the large ones). Early on in the career, these events might seem thrilling with all the “networking opportunities” & the “Who’s who” — but here’s the harsh reality…..one always comes back with a pile of visiting cards that end up in the dustbin in a few months (been there, done that). The real value lies in smaller + focussed communities: where you get to speak to people, discuss challenges, brainstorm solutions & build relationships. I’ve seen MAGIC happen in tight-knit communities! The only value I see in large events = Panel discussions….I personally love listening to successful people talk on stage…..but see zero value in bumping into people, asking for their visiting cards & numbers, & reaching out without an agenda. & on our side of the world- I believe, reaching out cold does help, but getting a warm intro is the BEST (super conversion + intent). I’ve consciously stopped accepting a lot of these event invites in the last few quarters - I only attend the ones that help us boost visibility + acquire customers at Zippee :) Next time you sign up for an event - go in with an agenda: to sit patiently & listen to someone while they share their story = that’s the REAL VALUE you’ll take back. ((For lord sake: don’t ever reach these events for the unlimited food & alcohol😂 )) PS: I’ve spoken at ~30 such events across cities in these last 2 years & my biggest learning: ‘Never carry visiting cards’…..It’s so easy to reach out to anyone today - just drop a line on LinkedIn. PPS: Folks who’ve met at such events know about the QR I have on my phone’s lock screen :’) #Events #Networking #Zippee

In the event industry, staying ahead means more than just knowing the latest trends, analyzing data, and spending more on marketing. It's about connecting with the people who are making things happen. Based on my experience, two approaches work like magic: 1.Attending Industry Events: These give us a chance to network, learn from experienced professionals, and gain real-world insights we can't find online. These events are goldmines for practical tips, new ideas, and inspiration. 2.Talking to Peers and Experts on the Ground: This includes vendors and operational experts who are hands-on during events. They help us understand the industry's challenges and successes firsthand. These conversations often spark the best ideas and solutions. Let’s prioritize attending events and learning from every experience we provide to our clients, ensuring our knowledge and expertise grow with each event. The insights and connections we gain are invaluable for delivering top-notch experiences. #EventIndustry #Networking #ProfessionalGrowth #EventPlanning #StayInspired #EventManagement #AjmalTalks

Nowadays, social media and email seems to be a dominant way to communicate. The ‘old fashioned’ phone calls and face-to-face meetings are not as prominent these days. However, have you considered that perhaps a more traditional method of communication might be more valuable than connecting with someone online and never speaking to them? Business networking and industry events is a great way to build existing relationships and secure new clients for your business. Memorable networking events can range from after work drinks reception, to fun summer party, or perhaps find that common interest with your clients and consider inviting them to a sporting event. 🏉 🎾 🏏 🐎 For ideas and support to fit all budgets, please contact office@laeventmanagement.co.uk #corporateevents #summerevents #clienthospitality #networking #networkingevents #clientappreciation #corporatehospitality

Speed is Everything When Planning a Networking Event! When organizing a networking event, speed isn’t just important. It’s critical. With so many moving pieces and a short timeline, you can’t afford to lose momentum. Every decision matters, whether securing the perfect venue, assembling a team of volunteers, booking engaging speakers, managing catering, or creating impactful content. Time isn’t on your side, and delays can quickly derail progress. It’s easy to take things for granted, but nothing in this process is guaranteed. My co-host and I have already faced setbacks, but we’ve learned that success lies in how quickly and effectively you adapt. Staying ambitious and resourceful is the only way to keep pushing forward. Momentum creates opportunities, and speed allows you to maximize them. You build resilience and discover solutions by acting decisively and making the most of every moment. Planning a networking event is a challenging experience but also a powerful lesson in the importance of adaptability, focus, and determination. How do you stay efficient and adaptable when working under pressure? P.S. More information about the event will be posted, hopefully, sometime this week. #networking #eventplanning #speedandexecution #montrealcommunity #eventmanagement

As many of you know, I've confidently set the ambitious goal of delivering 30 events over the next 12 months, including 3 international events outside of the UK. I’m excited to share my first update! Here’s what I’ve achieved in Week 1: ✅ Secured 1 new booking—an outstanding start! ✅ Engaged in discussions for 2 potential event bookings, including an international client for a UK event—consultation calls are next to align on their goals and vision. ✅ Reached out to 6 connections in my network to collaborate and expand opportunities. ✅ Started building an expertise database of external vendors and service providers to meet our subcontracting needs for future events. ✅ Had a productive business consultation with a seasoned guru (20+ years of experience!) who helped me refine my offerings and enhance the value I deliver to clients. Week 1 has been fantastic—1 event booking down, with 29 more to go in the next 51 weeks! I want to be clear: this journey is about more than just hitting a goal—it's about showcasing the power of focus, collaboration, and delivering exceptional results. Thank you to everyone who has supported me thus far. Let’s make these next 12 months truly remarkable! If you're ready to turn your event vision into a reality, let’s connect. Together, we will make it happen! #EventPlanning #BusinessGoals #Collaboration #Networking #InternationalEvents #CorporateEvents #BusinessEvents #NetworkingEvents #ProductLaunches #AwardsEvenings

What do event attendees really want? 🤔 Our recent survey reveals the importance of prioritizing quality over quantity, creating meaningful connections, and designing human-centered, technology-enabled experiences. From event preferences to attendee challenges and technological enhancements, the insights highlight how the event industry can evolve to deliver lasting value. Explore the key takeaways in the original post below! 👇 #EventInsights

If content is an events king, then networking is the emperor. That's one of the confirmations from a survey ("What event attendees want") about events for organisers to address when designing their events. If only it were that cut and dry... In November/December 2024, Syno International surveyed 202 event participants across fourteen industry sectors in five countries on three continents for That Coalition. The survey covers the following: • Event preferences: Size, type and motivation for attending. •Value propositions: Importance of speaker sessions, workshops, networking, etc. • Attendee barriers: Challenges to attendance, and solutions. • Technological Enhancements: Interest in event and post-event integrations. • Experiences: Interest in on- and off-site experiences. I'm now sharing the results of the survey in two parts. The links to both are in the comments below. Part 1 focuses on favoured types and sizes of events, as well as main motivations for attending. The results show the importance of evolving event design, prioritising quality over quantity, meaningful connections over massive scale and continuous engagement over one-time experiences. It shows the opportunity for carefully created, technology-enabled, human-centered experiences that deliver lasting value. Part 2 focuses on barriers to attending (including how to flatten them and choices that must be made to keep them coming back), in-person versus virtual event trends, and, coming back to a topic also included in Part 1, why events should not be created as one-time occurrences. At the end of each part, I include some practical take-outs. I hope you find this interesting/helpful! #audiences #events #conferences #networking #content #experiences That Coalition Piet van Niekerk Jokke Nurminen Mantas Stirbys Victoria Matey Victoria Matey Michael Arief Gunawan Irving Davelaar James 🤠 Mayes

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 🤝✨ In the world of events, success isn’t just about managing logistics or coordinating timelines—it’s about building relationships that last. 🌟 Over the years, I’ve realized that the magic behind any great event often lies in the connections made long before the big day. Networking in the event industry has opened countless doors for me. From collaborating with amazing vendors 🎤 to meeting inspiring speakers 🎙️, each interaction has helped me grow and thrive in this dynamic field. Here’s why networking is essential: 1️⃣ Opportunities come through people: The more people you connect with, the more opportunities you’ll find—whether it’s finding the right partners or discovering new event trends. 💼🔑 2️⃣ Sharing knowledge and experiences: Every conversation is a chance to learn something new. 🌱 Whether it’s a fresh perspective or a new tool, there’s always something valuable to take away. 3️⃣ Building trust: Networking isn’t just about what you know—it’s about who knows and trusts you. 🌐 The stronger your relationships, the better your events will be. In the end, it’s not just about planning the perfect event; it’s about creating a community where everyone feels valued and connected. 🌍 #Networking #EventIndustry #Collaboration #Connections #EventSuccess #BuildingRelationships
