SACIA’s Post

Module 2 of our online event safety training course continued last night with great presentations. Ebrahim Yusuf from ICC Durban opened the session with a discussion on Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment. He was followed by Maj Gen (Ret) Charl Annandale who spoke about the SAPS Risk Assessment process, and the importance of collaboration between SAPS and event organisers. Did you know that SAPS processes 17 thousand event assessments every year? The session closed with a presentation by Adv Raynard Looch who spoke about the importance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, with a particular emphasis on compliance with chapter 37.2 of the Act. The session was moderated by Phil Prinsloo. A big thank you to all our speakers. One of SACIA's objectives as a professional body is to encourage continuing professional development by industry professionals - we're never too old to stop learning.
